How good are updates on unlocked?

How good has the G6 been on updates for a carrier unlocked model? Is it getting regular security updates? I'm somewhat concerned it is still on Android 7.0 not even 7.1.

Currently on September 1 security patch. Seems to be quarterly security updates.
