How good will EVO3D camera be?

This is my first official post on the boards and want some feedback. I have read a lot about how the camera will put out 1080p for 2d pictures, but that does not always mean the quality will be great. I am starting to doubt that both cameras together make the first 10MP camera, because Sprint and HTC would have mentioned that. Will the camera's quality be on par with the thunderbolt or og EVO? I am getting the phone regardless, but I would love for my EVO3D to shoot amazing pictures.

Thanks for any replies!:)

Remember, MP is not what counts, it's the kind of sensor that the manufactuer uses. A good example I think is between the Epic and OG Evo. There were a lot of reports that the Epic had consistently clearer pictures and video than the Evo although it had 8MP

Amazing?

I'm an amateur photographer and I've got $1700 in my primary camera setup ($800 of that is just the lens)...and it can take good pictures provided I properly frame the shot and do all the other things that have to be done exactly right. Amazing sometimes happens but rarely.

I'd be shocked if the cheap lens in a phone camera can get even 5MP of resolution to the sensor which itself is also cheezy. If you get pleasant snapshots out of a phone camera then it has fulfilled the mission it is capable of. I don't doubt the Evo can do that.

Thanks for the over-analyzing of the word amazing. Where in my post did I ask about your amateur photography background? Oh that's right, I didn't.

Cant we all get along...

In comparison to other camera phones, the photos should be really good. It should in theory be able to replace your point and shoot, but obviously wont come close to a $1700 camera.

Keep in mind there are a few apps out there that will give you the ability to touch up photos, apply filters, ect, that will help give you whatever effect your looking for in a photo.

If your going to give an opinion a person should stay on topic. Do you really care that his lens cost $800 User7618? And, how does anything in the guys post present actual knowledge? If anything he gave a dick answer. What the hell does that have to do with the EVO3D? Nothing! I have no problems with opinions, but if I ask a question about the EVO3D I don't expect to hear about something irrelevant.

you asked if it gave amazing photos, No it will not and he answered why, he also backed up his statements with technical info on equipment and his skill level.

The Camera on any phone may compete with a mid-level point and shoot but it will never give you AMAZING photos hell I have a high end point a shoot and it will not compete against that.

So yes he answered your question, he backed up his statement with experience and you just want to be a dick.

It was implied that the OP wanted amazing pictures for a phone. No one would compare a phone camera that doesn't even have a zoom lens with an SLR. And we're in a phone forum, not a photography forum. So I found the response to be pedantic.

And in answer to the OP's question, Myriam on the Engadget Mobile podcast said the camera was very good, but thought the shutter button was the best she'd ever used on a phone. Being able to half press and hold the camera steady will go a long way in taking great pictures.

Sorry to cause a furor and didn't mean to. I wasn't putting down the OP or the merits of phone cameras. It's just that expectations for these devices often seem to be well beyond their capabilities. To me smartphones are the Swiss Army Knives of the computer world. They're portable and do a lot of things pretty good but few of the functions could be called high level.

On a lighter side, this is an excellent post (in principle). I was wondering the same thing in addition to the quality and clarity of the screen versus the OG EVO. I've always been a stickler for superior resolution as I spend alot of time viewing text and pics. Not many reviews if any actually addressed these issues - they all seemed to be enamored woth the 3D aspect. I figured that HTC would learn from the IP4 and Galaxy S in terms of a lower pixel count but better quality camera. You have to think/hope that they had to take improved quality into consideration when they decided to go with 5. After all this is supposed to be the next coming....

Suppose to be a dual 5MP camera on back. And sill the 1.3MP on front.

I am going to assume that since the 3D pictures are 2MP, there is only one sensor. If there were two sensors, you would be able to take 5MP 3D pictures. But each camera is capable of taking 5MP pictures, just not at the same time.

No my understanding that both 2D and 3D will be 5MP you have to have 2 Diffrent sensors to get that 3D affect.

One sensor will be primary and second will only activate if the 3D is turned on.

I agree! It's great when you don't have your main camera at hand, but it won't replace the main camera I think they have a ways to go, but it's getting there.

Just born in a free environment, kind of like Android.

Believe it or not, I respect that. If we were on my porch, yakking about cameras or smartphones, there would be no problem :)

But not everyone feels that way, and we can't be running around offending folks with our language.

Hands down my favorite feature in my epic.

Are you sure the 3d pics will be so much lower in resolution? Doesn't each camera need its own sensor?

Some of you all act like you were born in a barn. Watch the language people.

D'oh! I see some of my posts have been removed by the powers that be. :) Forgive me, op. I just was rubbed wrong by your flippant reply. Also, I apologize to anyone I may have offended with my sailor talk.
