How has your music output quality been on Nexus 6??

Nope but they would have the distinct beats sound signature. Giving the fact the beats solo 2 are tolerable and decent but are still base heavy and given the fact you lose fidelity over Bluetooth since your in essence compressing a music file already compressed it's going to sound even worse then a MP3 file with wired headphones.

Just use wav files ....better then MP3. The only reason I use MP3 is because I rather lay for Google music all access for $7.99 then have better music quality on an android device which I find the DAC in Qualcomm snapdragon cpu a joke to begin with lol

Please give them a try. They are definitely worth a try. Buy them, listen to them, return them, and then tell me what you think. They are not your typical bass heavy beats!

I'm also a play music full access listener and I chose them because their streamed musIc SOUNDS better than all of the others, including Pandora, beats, slacker, and Spotify! IMHO!

I have the beats solo 2 and no thanks not worth taking a train ride to bestbuy or paying for packaging to return to Amazon. The powerbeats are $200 dollar wireless headphones and made in the apple era so I would bet they sound similar to the beats solo 2. They are bass heavy and the highs are way better then before and the mids are more pronounced but still is bass heavy and I like them for select music genres. Even then go to headfi website and they still get laughed at for the most part. tyll hertsens from inner fidelity got slammed for his review of the beats solo 2 though I feel a lot of that is based on name alone more the the sound ...the powerbeats wired I might say their ok but $200 for a pair of wireless beats headphones I don't see much value in it considering you lose music fidelity when using Bluetooth

Well, there you have it! I've already tried your suggestions before you even mentioned them and they didn't work for me. You have not tried mine, so you really don't know, but I don't think you can question my opinion when it's just that...my opinion! Also, your opinion of the Powerbeats 2 is limited because you have not actually tried them. You're comparing wired vs wireless and wireless is not even an option for me, so this discussion really has gone nowhere. You ragged on a pair of headphones I'm using based on reviews and a "sound signature" all while questioning my legitimacy as an audiophile, yet you have not actually listened, with your own ears, to the headphones that your commenting on. Is it possible that you have no clue what you're talking about in reference to my initial comment that started this discussion and the Powerbeats 2 by Dr Dre?

I do have a clue what I'm talking about and beats don't deviate that much from the sound signature ...just pure facts ....I can have a whole argument why beats aren't even good but I'll just reference you to go to www.head-fi.org

I don't need to spend $200 to tell you how beats sound like ....they probably sound better then the older ones( their older headphone and earphone lineup...I have used the ibeats and tours and listened to the horrible solo hd and studio) but no way audiophile quality and I would think every other audiophile would agree. Just go to head-fi.org and go look for yourself. sennheiser, akg, Beyerdynamic And v-moda ( only some like the v moda XS and m-100) and there is more companies. These I would suggest never beats .... I'll make a whole argument hating on beats but I'll stop it here ...getting off topic anyways

The nexus 6 uses the snapdragon 805 cpu and the DAC inside that cpu is horrible. I think the best DAC's used in a mobile cpu is Apples and Samsung own cpu uses the Wolfson DAC. If you want to use the nexus 6 for other reasons but want to listen to better sounding music I suggest getting a portable external DAC

When did I ever say I listen to my beats because I expect audiophile performance? Please read through my comments and tell me. I said the beats are balanced and they sound great to me. Why do I need to read someone else's review to tell me what I should and should not like. There are several factors that went into my purchase which I've laid out to you more than once! You hate beats..fine! Then choose what you like but I'm not going to go to some review to have some one tell me their opinion on my purchase when I'm perfectly happy with my purchase.

They sound good for you that's fine but they are far from ever being balanced . Beats are bass heavy not balanced

Sound quity sucks!! I spend almost $700 for ghe 64GB edition of the Nexus 6 and the systems sounds are from a prepaid cell phone. I ended returning the phone, I contact Google and they weren't able to help me. It is a powerful machine but I couldn't have a cell phone with Systems Sounds that bad.

So, what phone did you exchange for? And, what do you mean by system sounds? Your comment is so vague that I don't even know why you would post? ?

Then bass heavy it is!

I certainly don't want to get into the argument over the best wireless earbuds, but I'll add this possibly useful tidbit - my wife also was a musician for many years, and she also feels that devices are "balanced" at a level that many people call bass heavy (not thumping and distorted bass mind you, just more presence). The profile of live music probably changes depending on whether you are sitting in the orchestra (or the band) or whether you are a hundred feet away, and that could potentially account for some of the difference in listening preference (of course there's also just plain old opinion, but I've found this commonality several times and thought I'd share our anecdotal observation).

Here's to everyone enjoying what they listening to!

I have n6 just had 10 hour flying day listen to 2 movies and 4 or 5 hours of music sound quality was top notch

Speakers sound great but the max volume on headphones is lower than most of my other phones and I switch often and use same headphones in the gym daily. Still sounds great though just have to turn up to about max.

i have had the phone about 2 months or so. the audio quality is phenomenal, but recently i have noticed a huge turn down on the audio as if i was turning it all the way down. i play with the volume, and it does not seem to do anything. My nexus 6 is rooted. i have installed viper audio, nothing. i tried messing with the system>etc>mixer_paths.xml and i still get nothing. the only temporary fix, is when it gets low volume, i turn the phone on its side and it gets louder for a couple seconds and goes back to low volume. help me please.

I had the same thing happen to me. Just exchange it under Motorola warranty.

I have had my N6 for about 3 months. The answer to your original question is
1. Headphones - The sound quality is good when the jack isn't acting up. I occasionally have a connection issue with my headphone jack that makes the sound almost disappear. When working properly with the mixer_path tweak, they actually can be WAY TOO LOUD!!!
2. - The front facing speakers are not designed for blow you away volume but more for quality listening via the true stereo output. As was earlier stated, some single speaker phones seem to produce a higher volume but not without plenty of distortion and a very tinny sound due to lack of mid and low freq's. I rarely use the front speakers for anything since I have a nice Bluetooth speaker to handle that.
3. - Bluetooth volume (which you didn't ask about) isn't any different to me than any other phone I have used. My Note 2, which I came from for this phone, sounded good for Bluetooth and Headphones too but the loudspeaker just doesn't compare. With exception of occasional headphone jack issue, I am very happy with the N6 sound quality.

Do like the sound of Pandora with the dual speakers.
Also sounds great ran through the Aux jack on my CRV.

Compared to my last Android phone I owned, (Motorola Razr HD) the sound through the 3.5mm headphone jack on my nexus 6 sounds amazing! The one on the Razr HD sounded horrible in my opinion. The phones with some of the best audio quality imo is the Lumia icon and Lumia 928 ( based off the phones I've had in the past).
