How have you used 'Google Now'?

I use it mainly for GPS, OK Google now.. Navigate to..

I've tried several times to use it with GPS reminders.. OK Google now remind me when I get home to turn on the sprinklers.

I generally get the reminder hours or days later.

Do you have location reporting enabled?

Wondering if you guys are experiencing this same thing:

If I say, "set alarm for 30 minutes" or "set timer for 30 minutes", it does it automatically without my having to touch the screen.

But if I say, "remind me to _________ in 30 minutes", I have to touch the screen to set the reminder.

Do you guys get the same thing and is there anyway to change this?

I used it for directions to get to places I deliver parts to/pick up parts from. ,easier then typing them in I also use it to find closest fast food places when I am in areas unfamilar as to where they are at.I have used it for other stuff just showing it off to people unaware of it :)

edit
I always have had everything checked under Location access on my Moto X

Yes, until the latest update the service just didn't report the way it should. It would be days or weeks later if at all.

So..it means sing Google Now to activate features of the Moto X shouldn't require a WIFI/Mobile Data connection right?

What do you mean by latest update? Are you talking about a firmware update like what the T-Mobile X got, or just an app update?

I tell it to do a barrel role.

Also, when you get the new update, make sure to update the offline language pack.

Still no luck. I told it to give me a reminder when I got to McDonalds and it didn't. I was there for 45 minutes while my kid played at playland and when I got in my car to drive away, BAM, up comes the reminder.

That's what mine does, too.

Since I have unlimited 4G, I never use WiFi. I wonder if it would work better if I had WiFi on. It would see my home access point and maybe come up quicker?

Time to experiment!

I just made my own to-do list with location based notifications in Tasker. I even have it give me the most useful list on my lock screen. It works way better but I have to tell it any location I want to use ahead of time. I can't just say "McDonald's" I have to find the McDonald's I want to use and make a geofence around it. That means it works super well for places I go to a lot (Target, grocery store, work, relative's/friend's house, etc) but not so well for places I only need reminders for rarely. Though neither work that well in Google Now, so I guess I'm still ahead.

Cool. I flit between devices for my job so I usually try not to get addicted to any 3rd party apps but I might have to check it out.

One thing that has been bugging me that last several days is that Google Now keeps putting up a card for my navigation time to work. The problem is, it's a location 22 miles away, in another city. Also if I go into Google Maps to see what my 'work' and 'home' locations are set at, they are 100% correct so I don't know where that new spot is coming from.

Try going to Google Now > Settings > My stuff > Places

To be honest I find the most useful part to be the personal assistant aspect. Like how it shows you time to work and home, my stocks and sports teams, plus it reminds me of my friends birthday!
