Greetings to all!
I have just finished successfully rooting my LG L34C (Fuel) smart phone. Since there doesn't appear to be a really good and well written "How-To" for this accomplishment on these forums, I thought I would take a crack at it.
First off, let me say that while I am quite adept with desktop and laptop computers, smart phones are an entirely new adventure for me. I want to do things with as little fuss and muss as possible. I also want and expect FULL control over MY phone! Android may be Google's brain child and my phone may use it, but I will be damned if I am going to relinquish control of MY phone to some paternal power whose "Don't Be Evil" corporate motto rings as false as a drunkard's oath and who can't even build a browser that is entirely secure! To wit: I don't trust Google any further than I could throw their CEO! OK. Rant over. On to rooting the phone!
The directions I followed in rooting my phone came from CNET. Since I am not yet allowed to post links for some bizarre reason from the Powers That Be, let me recommend that you search the phrase "How to easily root an Android" and then seek out the article from CNET by the same name.
In a nutshell, download Kingo Android Root. Install it on your PC according to the default directions.
Next, you have to enable USB debugging on your phone. This is accomplished by first granting yourself developer privileges for YOUR phone. To do this, open System Settings on your phone, then scroll down to the menu entry entitled "About phone" and tap to open it. Within the About phone menu, tap "Software information" to open its menu. Find the entry entitled "Build number" and tap on this entry seven (7) times. When you have done so, a message will appear informing you that you are now a developer. The second step is to actually enable USB debugging. This is accomplished by entering System settings and then tapping on "Developer options". In the Developer options menu, scroll down to the section entitled Debugging. The first option in the Debugging section is USB debugging. Tap the check box in this section to enable USB debugging. And voilà! You are done (with this section, that is!).
Now simply follow the directions provided by the CNET web link from step 3 and in just a very few minutes, you too will have root privileges for your LG L34C!
It is my sincere hope that those of you seeking out this information are as successful as I was and enjoy it in good health!
