Anyone have this and using it on AT&T that could comment on reception and any comparisons to other phones? Thanks.

It came a few minutes ago so I'll report back later today after I've ran it on the network for a while.

A few hours in and everything appears to be fine on AT&T. My signal strength appears to be low compared to the Nexus 5X I was using this morning but that could just be the way it's being reported between the 2 devices.

Made a 10 minute phone call and clarity was better than on the N5X. I'll post back if I notice any issues but everything appears fine. For what it's worth my Z5 Compact is model # E5823 and I'm using the AT&T nxtgenphone APN.

No problem. Let me know if you want anything tested.. I should note that I always have low signal when at home, which is where these speed test (and the shown signal bar strength) were taken.

I've received several text messages, made another call and got an MMS since my last post. No issues at all to report.

I did ditch the Sony launcher in favor of the Google Now launcher and I did uninstall and disable a bunch of stuff..

If I encounter any issues on AT&T I'll be sure to report them here.

Off topic but I've been wondering about the overall size comparison of the 5x vs z5c. I have the z5c but I've been debating the 5x. If its not too much trouble, I guess when you've used it a while, could you tell me how the feel is in hand and if the screen resolution and speed is noticeably different?

Thanks!

I've had the Z3, the Z3 Compact and now the Z5 Compact. As far as Nexus device go, I've had every single one of them. Now onto your questions.

Size:

The N5X looks and feels ginormous compared to the Z5C. I was a bit amazed last week when a friend of mine, who has the Note 5, compared it to my Nexus 5X. They are almost the same size if that gives you an idea about the N5X size. It's pretty large for only having a 5.2" screen.

Screen:

My Nexus 5X has warmer color on the screen than my Z5C does. Whites look a tad bit pinkish on the N5X which I personally do not like. The screen on the Z5C looks better to me but I guess that's going to vary person by person. The N5X has the better spec'd screen but I prefer the Z5C screen over it.

Speed:

My N5X lags a little in certain areas. I have not noticed any lag on the Z5C. I did get a Sony firmware update right out of the box so I can't compare it to previous Z5C software. My Z5C screams! It's fast! Is it faster than the N5? A little in some areas but nothing major in my opinion. As I previously stated, I ditched the Sony launcher in favor of the Google Now launcher.

Feel in hand:

One handed use on the N5X is doable but depending on your hand size may not be possible. The N5X feels fine in hand. I've read many of the so called expert reviews where it's called cheap. I did not get that feeling when holding it. Does it feel 'slip out of your hand premium'? No, but I have no complaints with the feel in hand with the N5X. I am only on day one with the Z5C but for one handed use it rocks! It does feel more premium in hand -v- the N5X but again that is going to vary person by person.

The N5X is a fantastic device but it's larger than I wanted. The Nexus 5 was almost the perfect size for me and the 5X is a little to large for my liking. I am only on day 1 with the Z5C but if cash is not a consideration, I'd recommend it over the 5X...

Hi would you also please let me know what's the best place to buy z5c..Given that there is no US warranty.. I'd like to play it safe...also in general is the phone snappy with the 2gb ram? how about the camera and finger print sensor..thanks!

I bought mine from Amazon but Expansys also sells them in the US.

The Amazon sellers say no warranty but that is not entirely true. I called Sony and inquired about this... Here is the gist of it: If purchased from Amazon then you'd need to send the unit back to it's county of origin for warranty work. For instance, mine is a Hong Kong unit so if I need service I'd need to contact Sony HK and pay to ship it to them. Expansys offers their own warranty so to speak. What they do is you'd send it to them and then they'd do what I stated above for you..

I've had no issues thus far with the 2GB RAM. I have only multi tasked lightly so far but I do not foresee it being an issue..

I read several reviews about the camera lagging, which was apparently fixed with the recent Sony update. I have basically started on this update so I can't compare to the past issues. The camera is fast and responsive on my Z5C and I have no complaints thus far with it. I'd need to use it a lot more before giving a final verdict on it though,

The fingerprint reader is fast and accurate. I have 3 prints registered and while I have had a few misreads, it works fine and is pretty darn fast. The misreads are not a concern for me as I also had them on the Nexus 5X..

I also purchased mine from Amazon and everything was great. Since fulfillment was done by Amazon I at least knew that they would cover me in case of a DOA device or if the package was damaged. I also have Prime so the phone arrived in a couple of days.

I had the Z3C and I have to say that the Z5C is really fast comparatively. I'm really happy with the Z5C as it improves on a couple of my biggest gripes with the Z3C (32GB of storage up from 16GB, and the charging port at the bottom with no flap to uncover for charging).

I understand concerns with the warranty issue, but since I never had any issues with the Z3C I'm not too worried. I'm also paying my cellphone bill with a Wells Fargo credit card that offers an insurance on the phone (I believe all WF cards offer this - $600 of coverage with a $25 deductible) in case of damage. Overall really happy with my Z5C.
