How is the battery life for the Vivid?

You sure have a lot of icons at the top of the screen to the left of the 4G symbol. I only have the AT&T icon. Maybe that stuff is eating your battery. Plus I'm a little over one day since a charge and the battery level is down to 60%. My screen time shows only 26%...you show 80%...that can't help the battery life.

Kurt, I know you've been avidly searching for the best way to squeeze battery life from your phone. Do you actually use it very often? The usage above seems to be with heavy usage; being "out and about", I'd guarantee the screen was at full brightness as well (it's impossible for me to read the screen in daylight if not at full brightness). My first impression was, also - "that's a lot of background processes!"

When at work (11 hour days) I don't plug my phone in, but I also don't touch it often. I take an hour walk on my lunchbreak where I'll listen to music, but otherwise very light use. If ActiveSync is off, I'll usually have around 80% battery remaining. If it's on, I'll have closer to 40% left - which actually means closer to 20%, with the unpredictability of battery charge once below a certain level.

I was really looking into that, but I guess I've moved on. I'm not a very active user unless I'm on business trips or away from home/office where I have email/web access. I use the phone for that when I'm out...I don't make many calls. I'm getting at least two days, nearly three days of battery, so I consider that pretty decent.

This is the battery life I expect from any phone I buy. Glad I made the trade.

Sent from a stock Atrix 2 cause there's no reason to root it. :)

I would love to but I have charged it since. It really surprised me though cause I put it on the charger and it never charged. Which could have something to do with it but I'm not so sure. I plugged it into a dead outlet by mistake.

Well, that actually is nice battery life, but MOTOBLUR was too...exploitave, if that makes any sense...it took too much of people's personal information and displayed it easily... but congrats, man!

I'm not sure the charging graph on the bottom is accurate. I've been at work all day without my charger and it still says it's been charged periodically throughout.

Unless I'm reading it wrong of course.

What do you mean by "displayed"? Displayed where? Public servers?

Look at the display...the first line Mobile Network Signal with a graph underneath it. Same for the others. Now look at Charging...what's underneath it...it's blank which would indicate no charging.

I have no explanation for Screen On and Awake, but I think the system comes "on" once in a while and trys to check on the time, find towers, etc. (my guess) and then shuts off. In general, I think the programming for this display is not all that accurate.

Mobile Network Signal: Whether or not you have had at least a bar or not, gaps means no coverage.
Wi-Fi: Self explanatory.
Awake: When the phone does processes (i.e. App working in background, syncing, etc.)
Charging: Self explanatory.

The chart, if stock and no battery scripts have been wiped, is actually pretty darn accurate, and what I mean about the exploit, like, it get everyone's info from Facebook, Google+, and other accounts. I didn't like how easy it was for someone to get my FLIPSIDE and be able to call anyone of my friends.
