How Is the Camera For Taking Action Shots?

I'm torn between the Pixel 4XL, the Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus and just giving up completely because it's exhausting trying to decide on a new phone sometimes lol.

So as the subject says, how is the camera for taking action shots? I have a 1 year old and I want a camera that won't make her hands or anything blurry.

I would prefer the Pixel 4 XL but I'm not sure I can live without the wide angle lens. The S10 line seems to give more value for about the same money but the downside is they don't update their phones as quickly. I think I can live with that because I will eventually get the update but the Pixel 4 will never get a wide angle lens.

So if anyone could provide some feedback or point me towards a post or video that covers this i'd really appreciate it.

I have few Samsung and pixel phones I think pixel , I would lean towards pixel for those type of shots . Personally I don't like any camera phone for those but pixel probably be best bet .

Thanks for the input. I'm sure the pixel will be better but can the S10 phones do a good enough job? I don't need the best camera I just don't want my pictures to come out blurry.

I'll have the Pixel 4xl on Thursday so i'll test it out and see if I can live without the wide angle lens. I know that doesn't have anything to do with the subject of my post but it's really bugging me that it doesn't have one so I was hoping the Galaxy would do a good enough job with the action shots and then i'll have the wide angle lens too.

I have the s10+ so it very good camera , I'm not sure if the regular s10 has the same camera setup as s10+ but you should get very good results

Thank you. I'm open to more input so if anyone else has anything to add please let me know.

In Auto mode I gave up taking shots of moving subjects in less the ideal light. It's almost always blurry, I never had this issue with Pixel

I’ve always found the autofocus on Samsung phones to be extremely fast...the S10 is no exception. It produces great photos although detail is sometimes reduced due to aggressive noise reduction. However the Pixel 3/4’s camera is extremely impressive according to friends and reviews and is more or less guaranteed to give you a great shot every time.

Note: This is just about their merits as a camera, not a phone.

Well I decided to get the S10 plus instead of the pixel 4xl. What it came down to is that I just feel like Google should do a better job competing with the overall phone not just a camera. So I voted with my wallet. There's no reason they couldn't put 3 lenses on the back or have bigger batteries in both sizes. The Galaxy has the wide angle lens I want, a bigger battery and it was less money. So if some pictures come out blurry I'll deal with it. I'm sure it's better than my current phone which is the LG V30.

I have an iPhone Pro Max, Pixel 4 and N10+ and all are hit or miss with moving subjects in indoor lighting situations. I have a 3 month old and a 3 year so it's definitely a challenge no matter what smartphone you have. Live capture sometimes helps as you can review the photo and skim through the frames to see if you get a better shot but not all the time. I really hope the next big selling feature in the next generation of smartphone photography will focus on action and fast moving subjects in lower light situations.
