How is the camera?

It depends on what you define as good. Does it get the job done with good looking photos, yes. Is it on the same level as the HTC One, S4, Note 3, etc.? Possibly not, in terms of detail.

IMHO, the camera SUX! I had a Droid Bionic before this and LOVED it. I assumed, my fault, that this phone would have at least the same functionality of an older Moto phone but this one does not re: the camera. With that being said, I REALLY REALLY like this phone and for me the camera is NOT a deal breaker. Might be different for you.

Although it has less settings/options, I find that my mini takes a much better picture than my old droid bionic. If your into taking good pictures, a phone is not going to do that. This phone makes a great backup camera, just not as good a backup camera as an S4 or iphone 5.

Moto X and the Mini have the same camera. So if you think the Moto X sucks the mini is going to disappoint you too. Moto X did update the software on other carriers but it hasn't hit Vzw. You should take a look at the samples of the updated camera software here. Eventually it will come to Vzw and droids but no one knows when that will be...
