How is the camera

What is the megapixel size of the S6 Edge+? How is the camera, does it come with a lot of the fancy features?

Re: How is the camera

It's the same sensor as the Note 5, so 16MP back camera, 5MP front one. And it's superb, just like the S6 was.

Yes, it comes with the same fancy features from the Note 5, like YouTube livestreaming straight from the Camera app, Pro Mode with full manual controls like up to 10s shutter speed and manual focus.

Re: How is the camera

I can honestly say that this Camera is a great upgrade from my Note 4 no comparison.

Are you able to watch videos frame by frame?! That's how I get my storm shots on my note 4 but the s6 edge doesn't have that feature.

Re: How is the camera

I have to say, this is the first android camera that snaps as fast as iphone. No micro-second delays or nothing, shutter speed is blazing fast so it finally solves my gripe about blurry pics when taking photos of moving subjects (pets/kids). This was the only shortcoming of my previous Note 4 and the S6 edge+ finally gives me the camera experience I've always wanted.

It's just as quick and focused as my partner's iphone 6 plus but with more megapixels and zoomability.

Re: How is the camera

I used the iPhone 6 Plus as my primary device from September of last year through earlier this summer. The camera on that phone is terrific, with a simple interface and consistently good photo quality under most conditions. I never thought another Smartphone camera would give it a run for its money.

The Samsung S6 series definitely has! After using both phones, I can say without hesitation that the camera on the S6 (and now the Edge+ since it's basically the same) are a step above the iPhone camera. The most obvious notably step up is in sensor resolution. But we all know by now that megapixels aren't everything. In fact, a general rule of thumb has been that the higher the megapixel count, the lower the low light photo quality. And this is usually true if all other things are equal. But Samsung has managed to have a higher megapixel sensor AND still maintain very good low light capability. Part of this is due to image processing, another part is due to its very fast lens, and finally it's also a very good sensor. Having more megapixels means potentially more detail, and more leeway when cropping.

With its very fast lens, the S6 series is terrific in low light. One glaring example of the S6's superiority over the iPhone 6/6 Plus is in its low-light video recording. Try shooting an identical scene with both photos and notice that the S6 video is brighter - partly due to its faster lens, but perhaps also because of its image processing and sensitivity. Plus, I think the OIS is just better on the Samsung as well.

Furthermore, the camera app itself is much better on the S6 series than on the iPhone. SUre, the iPhone camera app is simple to use and very quick. But it lacks many of the features that the S6 series camera app has. Basically, you can just do a lot more, including a Pro mode. Plus now you can Live Stream to Youtube directly from the camera app. Did I mention the S6 series shoots in 4K video? Has a cool video collage mode?

How is the camera? It's superb! Is there room for improvement? Of course, we still have a long way to go to reach the level of a high end point and shoot. But it means having a very capable camera with me wherever I go.

I can't remember it on the Note 4 either... :S But no, you can't go frame by frame on the stock video player here. You CAN see frame by frame with the built-in video editor, however. And you can play with varying speeds and also 'scrub' through the video at different speed rates.
