How is the Incredible music player?

Hey guys. I'm thinking about switching to Android soon (probably the HTC Incredible) from my current BlackBerry Curve. I had a question about the stock music player though. How good is it? I currently use an iPod Touch to listen to music. I have 12GB of songs and I'd like to keep them with me on my phone instead of having two devices. I really like the smoothness of the iPhone/iPod music player. How good and smooth is the Android stock player? Any good alternatives? Thanks.

Its OK.. I have an Incredible so I can only speak to the Sense music player - I don't know about the standard Google player, but the HTC version isn't too bad, but its not an iPod. It doesn't do Coverflow (although it does display CD covers as long as they are there), doesn't display lyrics, and doesn't have an equalizer.

Truthfully, it is very basic and kind of sux. But luckily the Market offers a few great alternatives, some free and some paid. A great free alternative is Meridian media player. It is not only a solid music player but a great video player as well. If you just want a solid music player then I suggest bTunes. It costs .99 but it is well worth it. It looks and feels just like the iPod touch music player.

Also is there a way to sync my music from iTunes with my Incredible? Is there an app that will just let me plug my phone into my computer and have all my music sync and transfer over from iTunes?

Supposedly DoubleTwist will do this for you. I never tried it though. I just redid all of my music and playlists on the Incredible. Doubletwist has to be installed on the phone and your PC.

The one thing I don't like about all the media players, the Sense one included, is that notifications interrupt the music. I wish there was a way to have it automatically not do this without going in and shutting each notification off.

I use the stock player, or Doubletwist when synching music. Sounds good, I don't even use a separate player anymore.. ;)

blackberry allowed you to customize which notifications would interrupt media under different profiles

it's one of the few things I miss

Set your phone to vibrate or silent while listening to music.

I like the doubleTwist music player, but I don't like the desktop app. I wanted too :(. Unfortunately, iTunes has more functionality, like embedding album art and setting track ratings (which you can do on the app but not on the desktop??).

I did an iTunes->BlackBerry playlist sync tool for myself that I modded to also sync with my Incredible. It's fast. It's desktop only. It's wired only. Just putting it out there if anyone is interested. If you are, I'll work on putting the update out sooner rather than later. See site in sig.

Is there an app in the market that gives you an equalizer or will let you turn the volume up even higher than the stock allows?

Coming from a BB Storm, this is something you learn early on. As the Storm music tended to stop or restart when an audible notification came in.

i follow that tip sometimes. i wish it would dim the music and play the notification sound, just like an iphone.

doubletwist takes soooooooo long to sync this is the one gapping hole in android vs iphone the music player is so wack in comparison.. android can fix this comestically and i by introducing an official google music app slash computer program and satisfy this issue

Yes, search for them in the market or appbrain. They just won't have all the options most people look for. Who still listens to wavs? I figured with such refined tastes you would be looking for a flac player etc. Much better sound.

I agree, but my firm's voicemail gets sent to my phone as .wav... I can only have refined tastes when I have the luxury of choice. :)

For anyone who cares, some alternative players (not including the default Android one or its Sense variant), not in any particular order:
DoubleTwist
MixZing
3 (pretend that is superscript, I think searching for "cubed" also works)
Museek
Zimly
RealPlayer
SimplyMusic
Yebisu

Personally, DoubleTwist is my favorite. It's the only one besides the included player that successfully loaded all of the album art embedded in my files, I'm not sure why the other players wouldn't (or at least wouldn't get all of them).
