How is your Charge setup and how is your battery life?

So I had my battery at 75% and left it in my car all day at work with the display off. Came out to my car and the battery was DEAD phone turned off. I have push on yahoo mail and that is it with Advanced Task manager running it is always killing apps right now i have setup wizard which i can't get rid of my Verizon mobile daily briefing @email? maps backup assistant whcih I don't use!

I am going to stop by the verizon store tomorrow if i can't get the battery to last for 8 hours with the display off it is going back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the display but it needs to work too!

Menu>Settings>Applications>Running Applications

AntiVirus could easily be the cuplrit, they have been knows to run bad junk in the background.

I am under applications menu on it has "Manage applications" section, and I am wondering how do I kill it? It seems like the only option is to kill each application individually

thank you

Will you people stop using task killers! Once you kill an app it's just going to restart causing more harm then good.

This is Linux not Windows, in Linux free memory is wasted memory. The apps that you see "running" in the background are preloaded for when you want to switch to them. Most aren't doing anything anyways, they're just sitting there idle until they're opened.

Don't believe me? Then read this

the apps are running using data and draining the battery!
a better question is why can't i control the apps that are running? why is cityid running or daily briefing?

I don't care how much memory an app is using i don't want crap apps running!

I will remove the battery savers and see how long the phone lasts tonight!

I had a plain droid before with no real issues

I have read this same argument many times, but truth be told, I have a friend who was getting 4 hours of battery life with his Droidx and after installing ATK he was getting almost 2 days! Sorry to say it, but it does help in some cases!

Phone will kill apps on its own if it really needs to. Only tome you would need a killer would be if you're developing /testing a custom app.

I'm getting pretty leary on my decision to purchase this phone already. I am now reading that some are getting phenomenal battery life, some are getting extremely poor battery life... some are getting great GPS, others are just the opposite.

This sounds like a thunderbolt all over again.

I'm ready to pull the trigger, but this inconsistency is really killing it for me.

haha welcome to a forum of trial and error .. good news a lot of the users who are loving the battery life are users form Dev areas or users used to change some NOT ALL of the ones w/ bad battery are getting used to the device and some of the tricks that go alone with it... watch any new phone release and you will see this... it has been a number of years ( hmmm maybe the Startac..lol) seince ive seen good forums form everyone on the initial release... remember this phone is barely rooted much less romed and running with a new file system and kernal..... it is a long road on EVRY device...

When you drain the battery, if you let the phone charge overnight, it won't overcharge the battery will it?

Also, is killing apps going to harm are phones or something?

Back in my office today. In 3:45 I have lost 70% of my battery already with moderate use and a couple of phone calls. I have 4G while I am at work
yesterday while at home, I was on 3G and got about 10 hours out of the phone, but hardly used it at all.

i am going to Verizon today to ask for a different battery

Those of you who have excellent battery life, did you pick up your device from a verizon store, best buy, costco, etc?

I am on my 2nd Droid Charge and 3rd battery and I still have terrible battery life. I picked up my phone from a verizon store. I wonder if the Verizon stores have a bad shipment batch.

I got my phone at Walmart, and the battery was 100% DEAD upon purchase! Wouldnt even power up. they had to plug it in and charge it just to activate it for me. I had enough juice to make it out to the car and put it on the car charger for the 15 min ride home, and then charged it on/off over the course of the day until that night when it finally had time to go to 100%

I just got back from Verizon store where I had to argue my way to a replacement battery. My phone is on my desk (powered off) and the battery is now charging until i get to 100% Hopefully it will be better than the 90% drain I had today in 4.5 hours

Thanks for sharing. I think I am going to return mine tonight and stop by Best Buy to pick it up.

Are you saying antivirus is unecessary? If so, I will remove it. If not, is there a less bloated one available?

And I have done major tweaking with my phone in the past 2 days, I have determined that turning mobile data off whenver I'm not using it DRASTICALLY improved my battery life. Leaving it on overnight I would go from 100-75% - turning it off gives me 100-98%. This applies to any time I am not using my phone during the day. Is it common for people to be turning data off like this? My battery still sucks if I leave it on.

Another thing (which I know is frowned upon) was to bump charge my phone, but it seemed to have helped. I am going to try to completely deplete my battery today and fully charge it overnight to see if that method helps further.

Also, keep in mind that the battery icon *looks* charged once it reaches 81% capacity. I have BatteryIndicator to give me an exact % of my battery in my notification bar, and didn't notice that fact until i got it.

Questions:

Is it true that killing apps will somehow do harm to our phone as advised by someone on here?

Also, once there is a way to remove Samsung Wiz in the near future and replace with a different launcher should that also improve battery life?
