How large can a Nand backup be?

So I had to do a battery pull this morning because I was running a nand backup that had been going for several hours. Is this normal? I have only done a couple, but they were both done in 30 minutes or less.

I deleted the files from the backup since it was incomplete and it was damn near 1 GB of data.

- What is the longest a nand should take?
- How large can they get?

Is anyone else seeing 800MB+ nand backups or is it just my phone/ROM/recovery? I've started another one after clearing some space on my sdcard and have had it going for another 90 minutes and it still hasn't finished.

I am using the newest version of Amon Ra.

That's way too long.

Have you tried a backup using Clockwork to see if it's the same result?

No...I was hoping that I wouldn't have to flash Clockwork because it was not recommended based on my root method. Here is the link to the method I used to root a month ago...it has been updated since then but there is still a warning about Clockwork as of this morning.
[ROOT][GUIDE] HBoot 2.02/2.10 SOFF - There Will Be Root - Upd. 01.22.11 - xda-developers

Thoughts?

EDIT: Trying to do the backup on clockwork 2.6...will update when complete

i use amon ra and my latest nadroid backup folder is 541mb with 7 files...and it took about 5 min to back up.

Mine takes about 15 minutes and is usually like 2gb on my sd card. I always move them to my computer so I have that room back on my card.

I use clockword mod, and my backups take about 15 min (a lifetime for me) and takes about 800 MB - 1 GB of memory.

Sent from my HTC EVO 4G

About 10 minutes and 800 MB is what it ended up being. Amon Ra 1.8 and CW 2.6 work for me.

Amon 2.1 did not work.

I am staying away from anything CW newer than 2.6
