How long should I wait to hear word on an AT&T Galaxy Nexus?

Look. This phone is optimized to use dual core. Other phones are not. I bought the atrix, but it really only uses one core. The mp on a camera does not determine the quality. The censors do. I'm with you on the SD card.

The Atrix and other dual core phones will be big sellers when ICS starts slipping out to these older phones. Atrix will be so much faster under ICS than it is now!

Its just because it doesn't have the word "plus" in the name, and a blog made a big stink out of it (without even having the phone to compare with yet). So now everyone is complaining and making a fuss.

+1 Yea who wants those extra lines of pixels when you can jam those extra dots into a smaller screen.

Well said! Gotta love all the techie blogs.

I hope we hear soon. I've been upgrade eligible for almost a year. I waited for the Atrix at CES and passed. Then news about the SGS2 came out, but that took so long to come to the states. And then now I've been waiting on the Nexus for a while.

I'm currently on a $12 GoPhone since I dropped my Captivate a while back. I'm not sure how much longer I can wait. I don't even necessarily need the phone right now, but just some indication of when its coming would be nice. I'm close to going to craigslist and buying an Inspire or something to hold me over.

A 12 dollar Go Phone? You are a braver man than I will ever be, sir.

As well as wise for passing on the ATRIX. Not a big fan of this at all.

Buy iPhone, sell iPhone, import GSM Nexus? The iPhone tends to have great resale value, and you can get them subsidized. You may even profit

I've heard others mention that. I guess I should check to see what they are selling for.

I have a feeling that I'm not going to get this thing for contract price. I started with AT&T in june, and am not enjoying my ATRIX. Hopefully I'll be able to sell it or maybe even find a trick with AT&T :D wishful thinking.

o ya, i read that article... it doesn't matter at all to me whether or not it's a pentile screen, cuz the HD will more than make up for it and Samsung Pentile is not nearly as bad as Motorola Pentile (I have a Captivate with a normal Super AMOLED screen, and I can find nothing wrong with it)

Yea the atrix sucked horribly was so happy when I was gone

Looks like you have or had an OG Atrix and Nexus S. We must have completely different taste in phones because IMHO the Atrix blew the Nexus S out of the water. Even more so after gingerbread came to the Atrix. I had the Nexus S for about a week before taking it back.

Taking the SGSII back this week. Not necessarily for the Galaxy Nexus but too many phones coming to ATT around the new year. LTE and ICS etc. I do not want to be in the summer of 2012 still waiting for ICS on a SGSII. Also live in Texas which has three of the five LTE markets now. I am intrigued to see what pops out on this front.

I just bought an Atrix 2 off contract and for the money it is a solid phone! I will keep as my backup once I decide on a phone in 2012.

The pentile layout won't be a huge deal because of the high PPI.

The Atrix does use both cores, just not as efficiently as ICS does.

I have serious doubts about the SGS II LTE coming to the states for AT&T. I would think that we would've heard about testing or something pointing to it.

Then you'll find the info 1/2 way through this thread to be interesting....

Interesting although the DFW market has ATT LTE and it sold the SGSII. I am more concerned about the SGSII NOT getting ICS in a timely manner than I am about needing LTE. This is why my SGSII is going back by the end of this week. I will be happy to sit on the sidelines with my Atrix 2 and save my upgrade for some ICS and or LTE goodness in the New Year!

Another down side to the Nexus...Super AMOLED
Not Super AMOLED+ like the Galaxy. :(

It's a HD SUPER AMOLED screen!! This will blow the super amoled plus out of the water!! Lol

Remember how long it took AT&T to roll out the Nexus S? AT&T finally gets its version of the Google Nexus S - going on sale July 24th

I will be surprised if we hear any word from AT&T regarding the Galaxy Nexus before years end.

Hopefully they learn their lesson and whip it out faster and realize the demand for this phone. And if not, I heard the international version works with AT&T bands? Might have to pick up that.

It makes sense that it would come to AT&T, seeing as how AT&T is really trying to beef up their Android lineup, and the phone has HSPA bands in it.

I hope they are. Now that the y aren't iPhone exclusive, they need to get with the times and get their noses out of the air.

We can only hope that AT&T sees the error in their past ways.

ATTENTION: Samsung, Google, and carriers. Please listen up. We are tired of waiting.

Samsung dissed the U.S. by releasing the SGS2 everywhere on the planet except here. We got 7 month old technology. Gee thanks. Did they compensate with special perks? No, except the better model available for T-Mobile (in stinkin' October!), and a 4.5 inch screen for Sprint.
But then the Galaxy Nexus was rumored. We waited for news, but should we wait again? Should we wait when T-Mobile's SGS2, in some ways superior, is available now?

Honestly, most of us who know what's going on are somewhat disappointed in the Galaxy Nexus.
1. It does not have a changeable SD card. (We could care less about the last Nexus precedent.)
2. It has only a 1.2 dual core when it should have a 1.5 by now.
3. It does not really have a 4.65 screen. 95+% of actual usage time, it's only like 4.3 because of the control buttons.
4. It is not super Amoled Plus. Not a major factor since it has an impressively higher resolution, but I'm just saying . . .
5. It does not have gorilla glass. Bummer. Go check out the SGS2 drop test compared to iPhone 4s. Yes it does matter.
6. It only has a 5 megapixel camera. 5 is plenty, and megapixels aren't everything, but it could've had 8. (Why did you cut so many corners, you make a fortune on these phones?)
7. Okay it has ICS. Well, unless you've been lying to us about android OS being upgradable, the SGS2 will get ICS.
8. It is grossly overpriced, if the rumors are correct. This phone is not worth $300. on contract.
9. How many programs are optimized for ICS? Not many, especially before SGS2 gets ICS.
10 Same old battery size. It should have been at least 2000.

Like many people, I kind of love the Galaxy Nexus, but I'm disappointed. I can't believe that Google and Samsung were so stupid as to not give us a super phone. Morons -- you could have cornered the whole market, and been the praise of the world. Not going to happen now.

Will we wait for a November release? Yes, to check it out.
Will we wait past Christmas? Absolutely not! We want this phone before the holidays on major carriers (not just Verizon), so put your boys on overtime. Plus Verizon's rates are too high.

Finally, the T-Mobile version of the SGS2 is actually a better phone. Slap ICS on it and this is a deal changer. Surprisingly, the ONLY real advantage for the Nexus is a q HD screen, really! Does that compensate for what it's missing?
Someone said that the lack of gorilla glass on the Galaxy Nexus was not a dealbreaker. True, but on top of everything else it becomes one. T-Mobile's SGS2 has a true 4.5 inch display, 50% more sub pixels with Super Amoled plus, SD card upgradability, a 1.5 GHz processor, an 8 megapixel camera, all the programming flexibility I actually need, and has a price tag that's $100 less than the Nexus!! Hello. I think I'll switch carriers.

My contract with AT&T is up for renewal. I've been painfully waiting since last March to ditch my iPhone with this icave OS. I have researched Android, its programs and its phones. It is vastly superior. But I am sick and tired of waiting. I WILL have a new phone in my hand by Christmas. And I think thousands of people feel the same way I do. We will not wait on you again. Don't expect great sales on a late galaxy Nexus, it's not that hot.
