I have always being in and out with cases buying them loving them not wearing them. However I'm on holiday as we speak and I really regret not bringing my Amzer case not that I've dropped my Note3 or anything however I just feel unsafe in my holiday surroundings with hard floors and lots of sand. Also I'm constantly looking round my phone for scratches as soon as I get back I'm putting on a case!

I have my phone in a case whenever I am out of the house. My place is mostly carpeted, so I am not really that worried about dropping it. When I leave the house for any reason, my case goes on it.

Never thought of it that way. I'm always torn, I really don't want to use a case because they hide the great look of the phone and add bulk. But I always end up using one for the protection, although I never drop my phone, it only takes one time. But, off at home on when out is an interesting option.

Yes. Great input I understand it takes away the elegancy built by brands like HTC.

True, but it might not look so elegant if you drop it....

I always store phone in a case when I go out, & use Bluetooth, but its a bother if You have an I.D. app. Can't see who is calling, bummer!!

I tried going caseless for a while on my Nexus 5. It was nice appreciating the phone's full design and aesthetics but I was always worried about scuffing it up. While my case is only a simple one, at least I know it will protect the phone if it bangs up against something while in my pocket or if I put it down too hard on a table. My Note 10.1 is always in a case.

My previous 4 BlackBerrys (employer owned) - no case. My previous Galaxy S2 (employer owned) - no case. My current Nexus 5 (owned by me) - Nexus bumper case mostly, thin leather wallet when travelling interstate or overseas.

I have to say, the BlackBerrys all survived very well unrpotected; my corporate Bold 9500 was actually passed on to the regional President after he broke his own BB and I wanted an Android device, and it really was in mint condition. The Galaxy S2 suffered; what the heck does Samsung make these things from, clay? Looked very secondhand when it expired suddenly a couple of months ago.

But my Nexus is mine and I'm so chuffed with it as a phone I want to keep it as pristine as possible for as long as possible. Just, because. :) No screen protector though. I haven't scratched a phone screen since getting my first BlackBerry over 10 years ago and they've been around the world with me.

EDIT: Good point classer, the tablet; yeah my Transformer Prime is 95% of the time in a leather folder. Mainly because of the way it is used.

I use the Spigen Slim Armor (in pearl white) for my phone. Although it adds a bit of bulk, it offers quite the protection on it and I love the way it looks. The phone itself when I got it (moved from iPhone), I knew I was going to adjust to a bigger device so just a bit bigger made no difference to me.

I'm actually not much of a klutz but I'm really paranoid so I use a full flip case at all times. At first I thought it was great but now I just want a normal back skin cover so I ordered one from eBay.

How do you keep your phone from scratching? Do screen protectors actually help? I'm mostly worried about scratching when it's in my bag.

I have always used a shell/holster case for my Droid Razr Maxx HD. Not only for protection but I hang on to the phone much more securely. Without a case the phone slips out of my hands.

Screen protectors definitely protect from scratching. Some people believe they can actually help protect from shattering.
