How many will be upgrading from the Note 3 to the Note 4?

re: How many will be upgrading from the note 3 to the note 4?

Tossing my POS 5S into the verizon return style. Its very funny I have had many, many, many, many different phones over the say 5+ years nearly all Android and a few Windows Mobile and the obligatory iphones, 4,4S, 5, 5S but mostly 90% Android. Everytime I buy an iphone I always end up getting rid of it within 3 months. It just lacks way too much for me to find it useful. I mean in a typical year I get 7 phones and only 1 is an iphone, try it, get very bored with it and sell it. Now with Edge I am VERY happy to just pay it down to 50% and get rid of it or sell it and move to AT&T. Sadly with no actual release date announced by any carrier I have to weigh the options of selling or Edging up on Verizon.

I'll definitely check it out. Haven't owned a Note product since the Note 2, so looking forward to seeing the 4.

One thing that had me scratching my head was that they went back to USB 2.0 when the Note 3 had USB 3.0? No idea why they went backwards there.

Otherwise the device looks fine. I'd be looking into flashing some sort of AOSP or AOKP rom to get it looking like stock Android though.

TBH while i prefer USB 3.0 since it is now 2.0 i dont have to worry about using which cable with my Note 3 and Tab S 10.5 :P

OIS alone is something major imo. The last time I had a phone for the "2 years" was the iPhone 4 and i upgraded early because AT&T did 20 month cycles at the time lol

Yes the OIS is a nice improvement but the overall phone won't be much different then what I have right now. The Note 4 is gonna be a awesome phone but if your a Note 3 owner I don't feel like you need to run out and upgrade on the first day.

I think it would have been good if they started shifting all their devices to USB 3.0. Especially if the devices are now taking 4k video, transferring extremely large video files back and forth over USB 2.0 is irritating.

It's a minor annoyance. I just found it strange that they went back to USB 2.0 there. Assumed it would be USB 3.0 again.

I agree with that.

While the parts have gotten better from the Note 3 to Note 4 (screen, camera, processor etc), the UI seems largely untouched. I think the user experience for the Note 4 will most definitely be similar to the Note 3. I don't think Note 3 users would be missing out on some sort of amazing piece of tech if they held on to their phones.

Note 4 is an evolutionary upgrade, and that's great. Great for people who haven't had a new phone in a while - the Note 4 will be a big update. Great for Note 3 users who don't want to shell out the $outright or re-contract as it won't be catastrophically different from what they already have.

Sounds more like a carrier issue than a phone issue.
I agree with Almeuit.....I currently have a Note 2 and in Tucson, 4G is constant/consistent!

Verizon has radio issues with Samsung devices, just like other carriers. That seems a rash assertion. Samsung employee? ;)

Samsung is infamous for barely adequate radios.

Went from Note 3 to LG G3. It's time to come back to the Note.

Yup count me in. Can't wait for October.
Plus I can get a new phone every year, which is paid fully by my employer. So it's a win-win! And my renewal is in October, what a great coincidence!

Now what am I gonna do with the 10+ cases I have for my Note 3? ☺

You an employee too? :) ;)
Haha, not even close, trust me! Unfortunately Expensive, but Verizon has been the absolute best service/coverage for us (over 14 yrs.) and my Note 2 has Never had one issue since I got it brand new Feb. 2013!

Don't get me wrong the note 4 looks good but I was expecting way more and the edge isn't my cup of tea, I think Samsung dropped the ball this year . The ball is in Apple's court now and if they release a 5.5 iPhone I might have to covert back to them. Of course spec wise Samsung is better but I wanted something new from them!

I don't know I am still debating between the Note 4 and the LG G3. I'm coming from a Note 3. So far I have mixed feelings about the LG G3. I've had the N2 and the N3 and they have never failed.

re: How many will be upgrading from the note 3 to the note 4?

I will. I was impressed with the 2K display of the LG G3 and couldn't wait to see what Samsung had in store for the Note 4. After todays announcement everything seemed to be what I hopped would be included. I am disappointed with the bare minimum 20mAh increase. I was hopping that with the QHD screen and Snapdragon 805, the Note 4 would have 3,500mAh to 4,000 mAh. While its not major disappointment that defines whether or not to buy or not is that lack of 4GB of RAM. 3GB does not seem to be enough, but i will have to hold in my hand to determine.

Definitely getting it once it's released.

re: How many will be upgrading from the note 3 to the note 4?

The G3 is nice don't get me wrong, but its all about preference. Both Samsung and LG have multi window, 2K display, removable back. The only advantage of Note 4 Vs LG would be Snapdragon 805, S-pen, and SuperAmoled display

I'm gonna use my "jump" upgrade with TMobile and upgrade from my Note 3 to Note 4. Why not, I've only had my Note 3 for 6 months.

I don't think so. When the signal strength is 4 bars, a rarity for me, I get and retain 4G. But the sensitivity of the Note 3 seems to be lacking often enough that in a weaker signal location, it can't receive well enough in order to maintain or get 4G. For me the proof that is a phone issue is when my wife's old HTC Rezound reports a stronger signal and can maintain 4G better than my Note 3 in the same location with the same carrier.

Sometimes you have to take your signal level with a grain of salt. How is the performance of your internet connection relative to your signal level? I have a GS3 with CM 11.0 on T-Mobile, and often times it displays 3G, but as soon as I launch my web browser, it instantly goes to 4g.

On another Note, I probably will get the 4. Want to wait for the reviews to come out before I make up my mind.
