How many years do Android phones get OS updates

Galaxy Note 4 is now 24months old, and still getting Monthly Security Updates, and has had 2 major OS updates from 4.4.

I'm more than fine with 2 years of upgrades. Apple has a much easier time because they have a limited number of models. I upgrade/change phones often, but OS upgrades are never really a big deal to me. As long as the phone works well and does what I bought it for I'm satisfied.

If you're really concerned about updates, why not try swapping your phone for a newer model? Anyway, there's not really much your missing with updates though.

OP, I admire your phone commitment! I've done some research on this lately, as I have been thinking about grabbing a 6P and wanted to know how long it would be supported by Google... And I think I read in an article somewhere that phones will get updates for two years after their release. However, I wouldn't worry too much about not getting the latest and greatest updates - people still keep phones long past that date and they still operate well. :)
