How much data do people actually use?

I only worry with the people using three figures, it's going to **** up the networks and make data cost more...

I wouldn't on the unlimited networks as much.. Not many use that much anyway.

Honestly data only went to caps (and mind you VERY low caps in my opinion) because they saw us as walking piggie banks.

Look at home Internet... Other countries you get way more speed for less.. Not in the US... Why? Well why should they give us more and have to keep the network up when they can give us less and charge us an arm and a leg?

I tether all day at work for any personal browsing, music, and video streaming, and typically use 20-25 GB of data a month. I can't lose my unlimited or I will have to change my behaviors or pay a lot of money.

This thread made me realize why companies took unlimited data away and capped data plans. Some ppl use as much data on there phones as what home internet usage is capped at.

Na they did it for the money... That's why. Think about it... AT&T said 98% use less than 2 GB right? Well.. That leaves 2% using over it.. That's not enough to hurt a network that bad.

Mind you that 2% isn't all 100GB users.. It can be the 3-5 and 7 GB users. So in the grand scheme of a network most that had unlimited barley used it. So the ones actually using it weren't super evil.. They went to caps simply for the cash.

I just like to use my smartphone as a smartphone. They advertise video chatting, Netflix, YouTube... So I do that. Now we are the big bad ones that cause caps? Sorry I guess? :o.

I'm not saying they didn't do it for the money. They make a profit and they need to. Its a business. Its like free refills. If u get 50 in a sitting then they start to lose profit. They try to bet on the most ppl won't get more than what the drink cost so they can still make a profit. It still cost them money to send data on ur behalf. They let some ppl take advantage of it but when it comes down to the majority doing it then they can do what they please to still make a profit.

I think the data caps should be higher. But not more money for a lot less. But again I don't blame them for putting caps in place. I would do it if I owned the company.

Saving that $50.....looking kinda nice at times.......Then Unlimited kinda nice at times......Damn!

A few months ago I managed to use 51 GB of data on my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2. I had to work hard to rack up that much usage. I normally use about 10 or 11 GB, but I left wifi off for that much, and did more video streaming than I normally do.

Also, this was via HSPA, not even LTE.

Definitely a concern as I'm switching from Verizon unlimited to AT&T in Oct and getting a N3. I stay under 1 gb on my BB Z10 now cause i have very few apps. That will change when I go back to Android... Wifi at home and work. Does the Note have the Smart actions like Bionic and Razr?

My data usage varies. I have been using wifi alot whenever I can and that seems to keep my data usage under 2gb a month. I may spring and upgrade to the max plan because I would easily stay under 6gb. One month ( when I had an iPhone) I used like 15gb not sure how that happened but with my s4 and wifi I use about 2 or so gb a month being mainly on wifi. Check email, social media and the likes. Dont really stream music or videos much.

I use just under 3gb on my line and my wife is under 1gb. We have unlimited on VZW, things are going more and more mobile centric. I don't want to give up unlimited, I think data usage requirements will go up over time..we'll see. I'll pay full price for my Note 3 and sell my Note 2 for $350. Almost an upgrade price at the end of the day and I keep unlimited. Not bad.

I was on the fence about keeping Unlimited or switching to the shared data plans, I use anywhere from 7 - 17 GB a month and thought a 20 GB shared plan would suffice. Come to find out that particular plan is $150 PLUS $40 for each line added...WTF. I might as well pay my $89.99 plus $29.99 and $9.99 for my Unlimited and extra line......SMH.

1.5 - 2.5 gigs is my usual range. More if I'm on vacation. I use a prepaid T-Mobile monthly plan with 5 gigs at full speed, then throttled. Only 100 minutes of talk though. Works well for me and only $30.00.
