How much did the alum. unibody and build quality have to do with your HTC One purchase?

It's important to separate "build quality" from "build materials". Without making distinction, people will think you're saying it's well built because of the chosen material and these things are not likely to be correlated. Then build quality would have to probably be broken into a distinction between resistance to wear and tear (durability) and engineering integrity out of the box (everything wired correctly, securely mounted and flush fittings, etc).

Ahh, gotcha...and completely agree. I don't like the 9 app limit or the inability to clear all from the multitasking tray either but as you mentioned, not something I'm affected by very often so certainly livable.

I don't have my Nexus 4 any longer so I may certainly be remembering incorrectly but IIRC, I don't believe stock Android has an option to clear all apps from the multitasking tray either.
Your right it doesn't I have a nexus 10 tablet and you bring up the recent app tray and clear them individually....so what does the other person mean?

Although the look is not the most important aspect of a phone, the way it looks and feels in the hand is a very important part of the user experience. It was the reason that I chose my old HTC Sensation over the Samsung Galaxy S2 despite the SGS2 being the technically superior handset - when I held both side by side the HTC just felt right and a quality piece of kit.

I had almost decided on the Nexus 4 as a replacement for my old Sensation (I have the Nexus 7 at home so am used to the naked Android experience), however there are a few aspects of the Sense UI that I quite like and would miss (I know that I would get used to them not being there) - a few other aspects of the Nexus 4 made me start looking elsewhere as well, initially at the SGS3 and then onto the SGS4 & HTC One. I love the look of the HTC - I know it's a bit "I-Phone on steroids" but it looks impressive. I like the alloy body in the hand although I will admit that the SGS4 is slightly more ergonomic to hold, but as an overall package it offered more to me than the SGS4 or others did.

Sense 5 is not perfect, but neither is naked 4.2 Android and I cannot get along with Touchwizz. Horses for courses - I made my choice based on what I wanted and I'm quite happy with it.
