How often do you restart your Note 4?

I bought my Note 4 on December 6th. I've restarted it 3 times due to the back light for the camera flash turns on and stays on for no reason. I just recently converted to Android from Apple (4years) and so its all new to me. Has anyone had the same issue with the rear camera flash staying on?

Hey all,

Wondering how often do you restart your Note 4 to guarantee optimum performance? Every morning or on every app install or once a week or never bother?

When i had my Note 2, i restart every morning to remove all those wakelocks just in case.

Cheers.

I turn mine off completely when I turn in for the night, so I seldom feel the need to restart, unless I download new or updated apps.

How do you a create a Tasker profile for automatic reboot? Could you post the steps here if ya don't mind...thnx!

I restart if something goes wrong, like a rogue process or faster-than-usual battery drain. Today, Muzei wallpaper app died, so I restarted and all is spiffy.

Plus, it only takes like 40 seconds for the phone to reboot, so it's not a big deal to wait for it.

Rooted T-Mobile variant on AT&T here, a daily reboot profile in Tasker reboots my phone at 5AM just after my morning alarm. At the same time audio levels are returned to normal (they are lowered automatically when placed on the charger at night).

Tried to set up a Tasker profile but I get a error in Tasker saying "sorry that action is unavailable for your device"...the reboot option is in Red font for me instead of it being black font in the Tasker app.

Are you rooted? For that type of function, you likely need to be rooted.

I had no been restarting unless I had a problem, after reading some of these posts I may try a daily restart just to see if it improves anything. Coming from an iPhone, I never restarted.

restarting does indeed prevent all sorts of nasty's from getting to your phone including freezes. I let it go a couple weeks by mistake and the thing really started getting glitchy. Functionality became spotty. Battery drain up. Starting losing whole functional pieces. Not pretty.

Just press and hold the power button until a screen comes up that allows for restart, and other basic functions. Hit restart and a minute later you are back in business with a nice freshly rebooted device.

Restarting it once a day, or once every 2 days has the opposite effect: it prevents freezes.

That is almost like saying that if you drive your car into a wall every day, it might prevent an accident.

In two months I have only powered off my phone to swap the battery, or the SD card a few times. I did reboot the phone last month after installing some smartwatch software that was acting up.

Once every couple of days. Did this with my S3 and it kept it running smooth.

I am in the process of making my Note 4 self aware.

Odd logic.

The biggest causes of freezes are software/process conflict, runaway processes (e.g., poorly coded apps), and RAM that's not released by a process correctly.

Restarting a phone forces all process to end and frees all the RAM.
