I was a RIM/BB guy for many years. The Incredible is my first non RIM smartphone and it is awesome. RIM definitley rested on its laurels and is now seeing the competition closing in. Pulling the battery multiple times everyday was ridiculous.

Last time I rebooted was for the OTA. Haven't had the phone off since (nor do I plan to until it is completely necessary; i.e. another OTA)

I usually reboot if the phone acts funny, or if i install a new program or sync up to the puter. However, when I reboot, I usually have to manually open up Weather Bug so that it syncs up. If I do not, then it takes forever for my Weather Bug widget to sync (if at all).

I probably did 10-15 battery pulls a week with my blackberry. I am very excited to hear I don't have to look at my phone battery every day :D

Yeah I was the same way. I like the idea of it being just as reliable as my computer! Unlike my BB which was just as reliable as a.......well BB. lol

I reset mine every day just so the phone runs faster. I think the fact that it resets sometimes on its own has to do with the phone wanting to gain more memory. If you guys have task killer, you see the available memory gradually go down day by day. After a reset it goes back up.

i do a battery pull each morning makes the phone run much faster

I think you may be in the wrong forum entirely. Try here: www.crackberry.com.

But seriously, I've had mine since April 29, and I've only had to restart it once (twice if you count the OTA update). In the last two days, the camera has been locking up occasionally, so I will likely restart it later today, but the best app I've installed is Advanced Task Killer. It allows you to close apps that don't fully close when you back out of them. Particularly useful for closing streaming audio (iheartradio, Pandora, etc.)

Just dial *22899 as a phone number. I was told years ago by a verizon wireless local sales/customer service person while at a poker table that it resets the phone to the nearest towers as well as resets the phone and reboots.

This intrigued me, so I did a little research. Found this:

I know that has to do with BB, but my guess is that it is universal. So, by doing *22899, you are essentially reprogramming your phone, and according to this guy, it is not supposed to be done on "advanced devices" (whatever that means).

I DO update my PRL at least once a month (*228 option 2), so FWIW I think I'll stick to the on/off switch.

Thanks for the info!

You should do a battery pull every 5 hours this solves all problems

Pretty sure it was already clarified that the Android OS doesn't work in a way to where that has any different effect than just shutting it off

i hope your kidding every 5 hours is there an app like quick pull??? the back case blows

I really have nothing of any value to add to this conversation other than that with all the smartphones I have had I only reboot when the phone wasn't acting right (with my storm that was allllllllllllll the time). I just got my shipping Email this morning so I am hoping that the battery pull I just did on my storm is one of the last I will ever have to do . :)

I never reboot my phone unless something is just not functioning correctly. Otherwise I've had my Droids(I've got multiple Android phones), running nonstop, weeks at a time.
