How similar apps section works in Google play store?

Hi,

I would like to know, how similar apps section works in Google play store?

In Google play sore, one of my competitor’s app is being shown under “similar apps” section of my app page. But, my app is now shown in my competitor’s page, but a third competitor app is being shown there.

Do any of you know, why this is happening and how can I make Google play store my under “similar apps” section of my competitor? Is it because other apps have good number of downloads, my app being pushed down? Or any other reason.

For apps with less downloads, similar apps appearing on your app page will typically be the same app category, have similarities in the name and description. As an app gets more downloads, Google has more data to show apps that truly are similar in function.
