How so I stop apps from opening after being updated?

Even since we got Oreo, whenever an app is updated in the play store it automatically opens the app. I've looked for a setting to turn this off, but I can't find one. I am using the Microsoft Launcher, but I don't think that is causing it. Does anybody have any ideas?

That definitely shouldn't be happening. It should be a simple step to revert back to the LG launcher and see if the same thing happens when an app updates. I've certainly read about various bugs with the Microsoft Launcher, so I wouldn't be surprised if this were another one.
