How the hell do you prevent your phone from creating duplicates of songs

I have a brand new galaxy s9. There was no music on the sim card. I attempted to sync my music and found that phone phone duplicated half of it at random. I have no duplicate files anywhere on my computer and o have no idea what happened. How do you stop that from happening or make the second one not show up? I've tried with 5 different music players deleting everything in my music folder after every time.

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this from the Android Apps forum to the S9 forum, since the former is intended for developers to promote their apps.

You're presumably talking about the SD card, not the SIM card. What program did you use to sync your music? I've found that syncing programs (like Windows Media Player) often don't work very well with Android phones. It's usually more reliable to simply copy the music files from your computer's hard drive to your phone's /Music directory using Windows Explorer (or whatever file manager you use).
