I was curious about how tied in to the OS Bing is in the 2.2 update. I know when you hold the search nutton it opens Bing voice search. Does it open regular Bing search when it is tapped? Also if you click on an address like in contacts or the browser does it open in Google Maps or Bing Maps.

I currently have an Incredible which I love but I always wanted a Galaxy S phone for the screen so I was thinking of getting one to try out. But if Bing is still too crazy on it I will probably pass.

Does anyone know of or have a video walkthrough with ED01?

I know rooting and custom roms take care of it but I was wondering about ten stock rom.

To put it bluntly, Bing is still the default (unchangable in completely stock Froyo) search program on the phone. This includes the search button and so forth.

However, Google search has been added as an alternate search which can be used with voice and all. But this cannot be mapped as the search button unless using a custom rom. In order to use google as your search in stock you would have to use either the widget available or manually going into the app etc.

But yes.. Bing is still the 'boss' on the phone.

So how about clicking on an address link? Open Bing also?

I am unsure on that as I have not tried it myself. (don't have any adresses in my phone to check) But I would image it would probably work through Bing as that's what VZW intends for this specific phone.

Edit: Although you do have the option through the google app to search through anything on your phone and google maps can be installed on your phone via the market. In which case you can use that for address' etc.

You can put the google search widget in your launcher, it was included. Also the Google voice search icon can be added to any launcher Dock or screen as an icon also.

The Stock Browser also has a setting, you can select search engine, google, bing or yahoo.
That is all in the menu>more>settings>set search engine.
