How to add Essential Phone to Verizon?

Forgive my ignorance. I've always just bought phones through the local Verizon Store and then upgraded through them every two years. I'm interested in the Essential phone and see that it can be used on Verizon's network. So can anyone be so kind to walk me through what process I would have to go through in order to get an Essential phone working on my contract. I am currently past my current phones contract period so I am up for an upgrade anyway. If I purchase through Essential's website or Amazon, what do I do after receiving the phone. Do I go to my local Verizon Store or do I have to call Verizon or something else. Will Verizon be helpful or try to sway me into purchasing a phone through them? I haven't totally made up my mind that this is what I want to do and if the process is to much of a pain I will probably just pass.

Welcome to Android Central!

When buying unlocked phones, all you really have to do is ensure that the phone's bands will work with your carrier. Just pop your SIM card into your new Essential Phone (should you choose to buy one) and it will work just fine!

I bought my current phone unlocked as well (once I saw that it worked with my carrier's bands); and just popped my SIM in and was ready to rock and roll! :)

Would it make any difference that my current phone is an iphone? Will the SIM card still work with the essential phone?

Is that a nano-SIM? I don't think it would make any difference at all. The SIM should be universal for whatever mobile platform you use - be it iPhone, Android, etc. :) Don't worry - if it is a little big, it can be cut to fit the new SIM tray of whatever new phone you are purchasing. A sales rep can do that for you (they had to do it for me when I got my unlocked phone - it was interesting and a little scary to watch!). What kind of iPhone are you using? But either way, everything should be fine!

Your Essential Phone should totally work with your SIM; so long as the bands of the Essential match the bands of your carrier.
