[SOLVED] How to auto capitalize the letter "i" and more?

Why doesn't the DX captialize a single "i"? Is there a way to fix that? Also, is there a way to make it place an apostrophe in words that certainly should have them, like Im (I'm)? Also, it doesn't capitalize "im." Why not? I am finding now way to fix this. I could do this with my BlackBerry, and even add my own auto-text.

Thanks.

I take it you're not using Swype? All these elements are auto-correct on that keyboard.

That's true but Swype isn't for everyone.

@KingZee: I have the same question as you. For the time being I've just taken to manually capitalizing the letter "i" as I havent found an answer yet.

fiddled around. doesnt appear to be a way to do it that i can see, as the options are quite limited for the multi-touch keyboard. i personally use smart keyboard. love it, and it is extremely customizable

i corrects to I in Froyo on the multi-touch keyboard. There are also a few other things that autocorrect in 2.2 that did not autocorrect in 2.1 but I cannot think of them off the top of my head.

Yeah it works very nicely in 2.2 but the 2.1 kinda sucks :/
Well, that's good to know then! Any idea when 2.2 will officially roll out?

Thanks!

Hooray for 2.2, wherever you are. With 2.2, does anyone know if we have the ability to create text shortcuts? Such as typing "dx" inputs "Droid X" into the field.

Would love it if 2.2 fixes the navigation quirk that pronounces Dr. as "doctor".

While I'm thinking of it, does 2.2 correct the annoying act of putting symbols directly next to the last word typed instead of leaving the space that I put in there?

That's an annoying one.

SOLVED!

Get this keyboard! It looks better anyway! :0)

[MOD] HTC_IME (8th June) v27: Small fix - xda-developers

Seems pretty awesome so far.

...I wish there was a way to make the key previews show up for a longer period of time... right now they flash so quickly it's kind of pointless to have them turned on.

Also, the swipe gestures seem to be a little bit more touchy than the standard keyboard... if you don't move your finger fast enough you'll just end up with a bunch of garbage in the input field instead of the gesture you were trying to get - this is true for any keyboard but it seems as though it's more likely to happen on the HTC_IME keyboard.

Other keyboards you guys may want to consider are Swiftkeys (multitouch) and Slideit (like swype), both are available on the market.

Another keyboard that looks like it might be interesting is Blindtype at blindtype.com. At least the video they have on their website looks interesting. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be available to try yet.

swype takes some getting used. I have my x since launch day and have been using the multi touch just fine, but I thought I would try swype I have been using for a week now and im slowly getting the hang of it I think I like it
