How to change Google Now appearing on a home screen.

Apparently this is a feature only on Nexus 5 phones, my friend that has the Nexus 4 and just got the 4.4 update doesn't have this change. But I am wondering if there is anyway to re-center the home button so that I can have a few screens to the left, instead of swiping to the left and leading to google now? I don't mind google now being one of the cards, but I'd rather have the ability to have cards on both the left and right side, and having Google Now be the last screen on the left. It is a complete waste of space to have the left card from the home screen be only Google Now. I have to now swipe 5-6 cards in just to go to random apps. Anyone to change this without having a custom rom or launcher? Anyway to ask google to change this, it is annoying that we don't get the option at least.

Do you use Google Now at all? If so, do you really use apps that are 5 screens to the right more than you use Google Now?

I completely agree. At the least Google should give the option to have Google Now as the furthest left screen, as it is now, or like the old way of swiping up from the bottom of the screen. It being the left-most screen could be the default option to make sure people are aware of it, but I want the option to swipe up so I can have my home screen be the center screen of a 3 screen setup. I find it annoying, and if Google just gave us a menu selector to switch it between 2 options, it would make a number of people less frustrated I think.

There is also "kit-kat launcher" in the play store that seems to be doing well. No google now by swiping left.

I do you use Google Now and I like it, but I just tap on the home button and access it that way. Maybe some people do like the current lay-out, all I am saying is that it would be nice to have the option.
