How to change shortcuts displayed while toggling apps.

When I am toggling between app, the screen displays the apps open and on the bottom of the screen are 4 shortcut icons. My phone has always displayed my most used apps until a week ago. Now the shortcuts are to apps thar are rarely or never used. How do I get it back to my favorites.

Which device? Usually those shortcuts are recently used apps to make it easier to toggle between thise last 4 apps .

Long press an empty spot in your home screen, select settings and see which options you get about Recommended/Most used apps.
