How to change the time without a phone?

I got my Gear S2 classic yesterday and at first I was super excited. I am using it in standalone mode as I only have an iPhone. My watch came with the correct date, but the wrong time. I've searched every possible menu, but I still can't find a way to change the time. Surely such basic functionality must be possible on a watch?!? This is a real deal-breaker for me. If I can't find it, I will be returning the watch and buying an iWatch...

How about a WiFi connection? U can try that. If not, I know there was another thread with someone asking the same thing, if u find it there might be more information that could be helpful to u.

Have you tried to go into Settings > Device > Date & Time on the watch? Mine is grayed out, but I'm also paired to a phone at the moment.

Is it that the time is correct but the time zone is wrong (correct minutes w/ incorrect hour?)

I don't even have a 'Date & Time' on the watch. It has incorrect hours by a few hours. It doesn't say anywhere what the time zone is. The date is correct though, well at least the day of the month. Perhaps I should update my software on the watch first. I'll see if this helps.

updating was the first thing I did when I got mine.
I have the Gear S2 Classic 3g/4g on T-Mobile.
Software Version : R735TUVU2BPC5

You may need to find a friend with an android phone. the update comes via the Gear Manager app.

Help! How can I do a software update without a phone using WiFi alone?

I don't think the software update is going to help much. My gear app and watch are both up to date and I don't have an option to set the time or date from the watch alone. Maybe the other guy can cuz his watch is a 3g/4g watch and has its own network connection. Why not just walk into a phone store and set it up using one of the display phones? Lol

Thanks for your help guys. I've decided to give up and return the watch and buy a different one. Quite a ridiculous situation really - a watch that doesn't let you set the time is useless! I can't believe their designers made it this way. Biggest fail ever. It's like a toaster that doesn't toast, or a vacuum cleaner that doesn't suck.

Have the same issue. I have a iphone and got the gear s2 as a gift. cant use it at all in any way. The date and time is completely off. Cant reset it. Cant exchange it. Stuck with it. Stupid design. The gear s2 is not worth it without a android phone. Maybe I can use it as a paper weight

You could maybe sell it, and use the $$ to get a watch that does work with your phone? I would hardly say you're "stuck with it".

None of the major manufacturers make a fully functional standalone smartwatch. Samsung makes it very clear that the S2 needs an Android (preferably Samsung) companion device. Fortunately, Samsung has several models that are cheap enough to be throwaways. You can buy one, use it to setup the watch and then store it in a drawer until you need it to do updates, load apps, etc. Or get an Android tablet to use as a secondary device and pair the watch to it. Or wait for the S3 which they promise will be compatable with the iPhone. Or settle for the less capable iWatch.

OK so I just pulled out my 10 year old Samsung S2 and try to connect it to my Samsung Samsung 20S ultra.

After the 1st few attempts to connect various ways I had 0 luck and found this forum.

I was able to finally figure it out on my own here is what I did I hope it works for you...

1. Do a soft reset on your S2 or variable gear
2. Restart the gear once it tells you to connect to a phone
3. Download gear app if you do not have it
4. Once gear has restarted, comma use the app on your phone on your phone to connect.

This worked for me. Is 2 devices 10 years apart.

Let me know if it works for you.
