[How to] Clockworkmod recovery/ Return to Stock / Use Odin

Thanks for the swift reply! One thing i failed to mention in my original post was that the use of VooDoo is desired.

Over in XDA there are two versions of SuperClean (Voodoo and NonVoodoo). Is the link you provided (super clean 2.9 and SC 2.9.2) the same as in the xda forum with voodoo?

-Thanks for your help.

No my way is a little different, he shouldnt really need voodoo especially as a noob if something goes wrong he needs to know how to properly recover. but if you wish

first install and learn to navigate clockwork, learn to flash a zip and how to enable lagfix
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...-clockworkmod-recovery-w-screen-captures.html

then get
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...perclean-2-9-2-ea15-eb01-eb16-ec10-based.html

put the 2.9.2 voodoo on your sd card, boot into clockwork, wipe data and cache partition also would be good to wipe dalvik cache, flash 2.9.2 voodoo, then before you reboot , enable lagfix, then reboot

you should take some time to read about voodoo lagfix aswell

Thank you for the assistance, I will let him know about the potential dangers of Voodoo and go from there.

To return to stock choose one of the following files then use the application+directions of post #5 in this thread, Be aware that flashing any of these files will take you back to a stock state anything that is not on the SD card will be lost.

DOWNLOADS

DI01 : this is RECOMMENDED after flashing you can OTA to DL09 if you wish

DJ05 : this is a leaked update that failed Verizon's tests and was rejected, but many people perfer this over DL09

DL09 : this is a leaked version of the official DL09. this is very similar if not exactly the same to the official OTA version

is there any reason DI01 is listeded as .tar.tar?

because whoever made the package did it that way , i left it as is. there is nothing wrong it , you can flash it as usually.

thanks for the quick reply i just wanted to have a copy of a completely stock rom so if something goes wrong with EB01 or Verizon/Sammy decides to actually release Froyo so i can have stock...

Trouble Flashing Rom.

For some reason, i can't flash a ROM. it is rooted, SUPERUSER requests are granted, i can delete things like BING (Crap software)....

When applying "update.zip" i get the little android guy with the triangle that contains an exclamation point in it.

When installing CWM via odin it appears to be successfull. any new CWM packages that work better?

Thanks

(verizon fascinate)

what exactly are you trying to do?

after flashing you need to boot directly into recovery , if you let the phone turn on after flashing you wont be able to enter clockwork again
use cwm All
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...-clockworkmod-recovery-w-screen-captures.html

you will either need to flash a custom rom or a custom kernel after you boot into clockwork to get it to hold after boot up

You don't seem to mention this point in your screen captures thread. I'm having a heck of a time getting CWM recovery to stick and no one seems to mention you need to flash a custom kernel after boot.

Are you on the stock kernel?

Yeah, and I'd like to stay that way. From what I've gathered I can't use CWM red with the stock kernel. I have found some mentions of workarounds like this but haven't tried it yet: Clockwork - Android Forums

The only method I know of when using the stock kernel is that every time you want to use cwr you have to re-flash in odin. Due to the fact that the stock kernel overwrites cwr when you boot up. If there is a method to get cwr to permanantly stick while using the stock kernel I'd love to know about it, but as of right now I believe this is the only method available if you want to stick with the stock kernel.

I have tried multiple things to un-brick my fascinate. Including re-partitioning and installing PIT files with Odin V1.3 & V1.52 running in Win7 and in XPsp3 compatibility mode. I've read multiple threads and still haven't gotten the thing to work! :'( Here's what I am getting with this, and other, methods. Any ideas?

E:Can't mount /dev/block/st111
(Invalid argument)
# MANUAL MODE #
E:Can't mount /dev/block/st111

This thing is about to go in the bin!

Do you have the correct drivers installed? Make sure you have either the 32 or 64 bit drivers all depending on your OS.
