ok this may be another dumb question(just got the fascinate yesterday) what roms will i want to use with baseband version S:i500.04 V.EA28 build number SCH-I500.EA28 firmware version 2.1-update1?


also my fiance's fascinate will not take root. it was rooted and lost it during an OTA. how can i go about fixing this issue? still has superuser app listed in app drawer, how do you get rid of it?

Honestly i just skipped over EA28 and have been concentrating on froyo,,,but i imagine that it is compatible with DL09 stuff but dont quote me

i'll give it a go once her screen decides to act right. from what i understand i need to re-root in order to remove the superuser.apk from the app drawer... need to return the phone for a replacement.

you dont need to do all that
you can just flash a stock rom using odin,

Use a stock image found here, preferably DI01

then you can do an over the air update

this will wipe everything and leave you completely out of the box freshly stock

Ok, so I'm pretty new to Android and I apologize if this question has been answered or if it's obvious in the forum and I'm just not getting it.

I want to update my ROM/Kernel and / or go to 2.2 but I'm a little sketchy when it comes to Odin and fully understanding what I need to do. I've read through this thread and the "[How to] Flash Full package DL09 and Stock DI01 via Odin", but for some reason some things just haven't 'clicked' with me.

So, if I'm understanding this correctly the first thing I need to do is to put "Update.zip" onto the root of my SD Card? My first question is what exactly is on "update.zip".


Secondly, I would flash CWM onto my Fascinate via Odin? And once that is done then I can perform a full backup of my phone as it currently stands by using CWM? Would I need to D/L "Rom Manager" too at some point?

If I have these steps correct, the next question would be has all of my data (contacts, calander, apps, etc) been wiped? If so, how would I go about restoring? I'm assuming I would use the backups I've made thus far with Titanium Backup? And prior to going Odin-crazy and flashing new ROMs/Kernels, should I move all my apps to my SD card, or just reinstall them from the market/appBrain or TB?

ok i am going to give you a link to put froyo root and clockwork all on your phone with one odin flash,, but to answer some questions first

update.zip is the file that opens up clockwork recovery, without it you are stuck in stock recovery.......

yes you flash clockwork with odin and you can use a backup of your roms current state,,but if you are moving up to froyo, you wont be able to use it anyway since it wont be compatible with froyo kernel.

titanium backup actually already moved all your apps to your sdcard in compressed form in the titanium backup folder...so if you did the back up you wont need to move any apps

contacts /calander should be backed up using your google account or backup assistant

you can choose to use rom manager but i dont its kind of useless

Just one last question. I have 2.1 DI01 right now, can I go straight into EB01 or do i need to move up from DI01 to DL09 (not sure if i read this somewhere or am confused with something else).

My friend asked me to root his fascinate and flash a rom on it since to him im the "go-to-guy". Thanks for the swift reply! One thing i failed to mention in my original post was that the use of VooDoo is desired.

Over in XDA there are two versions of SuperClean (Voodoo and NonVoodoo). Is the link you provided (super clean 2.9 and SC 2.9.2) the same as in the xda forum with voodoo?
