Currently, on my pc, I pull a complete image periodically, so if I should get a virus or ransomware, or screw up my config, I can just blow the image back and be on my way. I would like to do the same with my "moto g(7) power" android phone running android 10, and my wife's iphone6, running 12.5.4. Is there any such capability out there?

Cloning your Android phone as an image to a PC isn't an easy task. Law enforcement agencies can do this but they're using pricey duplicators that aren't sold in the consumer market. At best, you do need to manually back up/restore your data. The issue being it is just data transfers, not an entire image so it's a given there's a functioning Android operating system on the target device.
With iPhones, it's also not a matter of being able to just clone an image of an iPhone's internal storage but Apple does have a much more sophisticated and comprehensive backup/restore utility for its devices, and it's a part of iOS not some app you need to install. As long as she's regularly backing up her iPhone using iCloud (or the more dated iTunes) it's pretty much a seamless way to restore and/or transfer her entire user account data from iPhone to iPhone.

(...also note that on Android devices, there is a backup/restore option buried in the Settings menu but it's important to note it's also a bit of a misnomer. It does automatically backup data into your online Google account but this only applies to Google apps and services. So if you make a lot of alterations to your Settings menus, that's backed up and restorable. But if you have a sizable music library stored in your phone's internal storage, that's not included. So be sure to implement a added backup solution for your Android device. Backups are important.)
