How to confirm 5G on Galaxy A51 5G phone?

I'm relatively new with Android and carry an S20 FE 5G on T-Mobile. As I look at it now, it clearly says 5G next to the status bars.

My wife just got an unlocked A51 5G also on T-Mobile and there is no label next to the bars. Settings show T-Mobile auto connect 5G/LTE/3G/2G.

How can I determine if she is getting 5G in the same places my S20 shows 5G?

Also, is there a way to get the current connection type shown in status?

Had to guess if this thread should be in the Carrier forum or an Other Samsung forum.

Is this only lock screen or also when you open the phone?
Always. Didn't want to post her home screen.

The app says LTE (below). Don't know what S D R means for the SIM. As I said, settings shows: T-Mobile 5G,LTE,3G,2G automatic. So I'm thinking I need to use a new 5G T-Mobile SIM that I have laying around (long story). But still will be annoyed if the status never shows what level of service (5G,LTE,3G...) on the A51. Hopefully the new SIM will fix that as well.

Turn off the Wi-Fi (temporarily), then it will show the cell network type. Because you're on Wi-Fi, that symbol replaces the cell network type symbol in the status line.

You're right....sort of. I didn't expect that since my S20 shows 5G when connected to WiFi.

When I disconnected the A51 from WiFi, 5G appeared next to the cell bars as you said. But............. when I turned WiFi back on, the 5G label remained!

Now I need to figure out why the phone now shows the 5G label (as does my S20) at home while the cellinfo app says LTE. Either the phone status is incorrectly showing 5G OR that app is wrong or shows LTE for some types of 5G. App shows band 66 which is LTE but I think some flavors of 5G are somehow dependant on LTE.

Try in wifi settings on your phone and go to advanced, make sure when wifi not stable to switch to data not toggled on this can make both show same time or Wi-Fi calling
