How to cut/paste phone number from call log into text message/etc.

If I have a random phone number in my call history, how do I copy the number for use in a text message?

I just purchased a Note 8, and I am having to learn all the quirks. Coming from an HTC, I would just long-press the phone number in question and it would give me options to "copy" or "send text message". But those options are not immediately available.

Any ideas?

One of the choices should be "Copy to dialing screen". Do that and long-press the number on the phone screen and you should get Copy as one of the choices. (Samsung doesn't want your fingers to get too used to being idle, I guess.) Then you can long-press in a text and paste. Whew!
