How to determine date of manufacture, no recovery mode on this phone, no barcodes

Anyone know how to determine the date of manufacture for the Mate 9? It appears this phone doesn't have the normal recovery mode that I'm use to seeing on other phones, usually you can boot into recovery and see the manufacture date in the barcodes. This phone has no real recovery mode, I've tried every button combination I could think of, also not a single article on Google about it.

You're right...

All I get when I hold the the volume up and power keys together after shutting the phone off is a recovery screen with 3 choices.

1. Reboot device
2. Restore/recover device
3. Wipe cache

When I connect the phone to a PC and try a reboot from off using the volume down and power key HiSuite only offers the usual recovery option which wipes the phone to factory settings.

The phone does show a different "fastboot" screen using the connected option.
Weird...
I guess the SOC on Huawei phones uses some strange method compared to any other Android device.
