How to disable default apps Marshmallow sets

Since upgrade to 6.0.1, when I click a link, a video, a picture, etc. Marshmallow ask what app I want to use to open it. Just like android always did. Wrong. Now when you choose the app, Marshmallow sets it as default, doesn't give you a choice.

Is there a way to go back to the old way?

How do you remove the default app? I have tried clearing them under settings-applications-default applications-set as default. Then selection the app and hitting clear defaults. This isn't working on the tapatalk app for me.

Any help please

Samsung s6 running 6.0.1

Welcome back! Moved this to the S6 forum, since this kind of thing can be more specific to the phone than to Marshmallow in general.

I think Samsung works a little differently than other manufacturers, and they assume that what you pick at first is what you want as default. I agree, it wouldn't be my preference either, but I've read a number of other threads complaining about this on Samsung devices.

Is Tapatalk the only app that won't clear the default? What about other apps? And what if you go to the App Manager, tap Menu (or More), and Reset All App Preferences?

So far it seems like tapatalk is the only one else I can't reset.

I haven't reset all apps yet as I don't want to have to disable apps again and reset all the notifications for my apps.

Do you have any other apps besides Tapatalk that could be set as default for whatever action you're using? If there is no other app, then Tapatalk would automatically become the default.

No I don't. If I do a search on Google. And it returns a forum that is on tapatalk it trys to launch tapatalk.

I may Uninstall tapatalk and reinstall to see if that fixes it

Are you trying to have the forum open on the browser instead?

I'm having the same problem on the S5...I used to be able to choose a source for attaching pics to texts/emails/etc. Now, if I choose Gallery, it's set as the default and I can't choose Camera, Reacticons, etc. without going back into the Application Defaults and resetting them every time.
