How to disable GMAIL?

I use another email app.
I would like to disable Gmail to stop notifications but with my new phone I just bought I can't do anything.

I can't even uncheck the "show notifications"

you could use this debloater tool for PC, very easy to use

or for a small amount of money, you can block and manage blocked apps from the phone itself

THEY DON'T REQUIRE ROOT, but you have to be careful of what you disable/block, anyway, you can disable Gmail without a problem, i also use a 3-rd party app for mail

Settings/Accounts/Google/Choose account/Turn off syncing for GMail
