I can't disable the green LED notification flash for new emails. I went under Settings > Display > Notification Flash and unchecked for Email. I even unchecked for all options and still can't get the darn thing to stop flashing on new emails. I tested for alarm and the enable/disable works for that. I use Gmail.

If I disable Email notifications from within Gmail (Menu > More > Settings > uncheck Email notifications) then LED notifications stops also...but I need the email notification on or I won't know theres a new email...but the flash is annoying and drains battery.

But that gets rid of all notifications of mail. I just want to disable the flashing led indicator. If I disable all I won't know of new mail unless I open the app.

As a related / piggy back request: Is there some way to have the alert sound of a new email be different from the alert sound of a new SMS/MMS?

Love the new EVO, but can't get these alerts under control. :(

In each individual app you have to go into the settings and select the ringtone/notification sound that you want.

The menu system can be dizzying at first, you just have to get used to every single app having it's own set of notification parameters opposed to global settings for email, SMS, IM or whatever.

From homescreen: Menu> Settings> Display> Notification flash> uncheck Email.

I have had this problem with my incredible and now the thunderbolt. I uncheck email under the notification flash and yet it still flashes when with every new email.

i'm guessing that we none of us own a thunderbolt in the evo section. LOL.

are there software differences between the two phones?

Yeah I figured no one would lol... When I did a search on the subject this thread came up. Since it looked like he was having the same problem I was thinking maybe it is a HTC thing and figured I would respond to see if anyone came up with a solution.

It not a huge deal just a little frustrating when I can't figure something out.
