How to disable the banner notifications?

Hey there!

After the update to Android 5 on my Nexus 4, there are several apps which use some new floating banners. Those banners appear as a notification preview on top of the screen. How can I disable them? They unfortuanetly really annoy me. My attentionspan is big enough to note a little icon on top of the screen

Welcome to Android Central! I would imagine that you could turn those off by turning off notifications for the particular app.

Thank you for your reply! Well, I do like a notification per se, like in pre android 5. Just a small icon in the upper status bar. Turning off notifications completely also removes every notification from that app.

Oh I see. Not sure if that's possible. You might try playing around with the Interruptions settings, although that probably wouldn't give you the small notification icon.

Hey there, been trying to do the same as you but, if you block notifications you will receive nothing from app, neither small icon. ;(
