How to disable this pulsing blue full screen reminder on Galaxy Note 8?

Hi everyone. :)

My Galaxy Note 8 updated to One Ui a couple of months ago.

The (stock) Reminders App has had a make over and overall is much better. However, there is one new feature which I'd like to disable.

When my screen is off and locked and a reminder is due my screen will pulse blue with the details of the reminder. It will continue to pulsaate until I turn the screen on.

I've spent way too much time searching online for a way to disable this feature and I've given up. I can't even find a name for the feature let alone find a way of disabling it.

There is a possibility that it's an old feature and I may have just accidentally enabled it myself. But as the first time I noticed it was around the time I received the One Ui update I've been assuming it's new with the update.

Knowing me I've probably been looking too deep and missed something that's been staring right in my face the whole time.

Anyway... I've attached a image so you can see exactly what I'm talking about.

Many thanks in advance. :)

That's the same thing that I see. It's definitely not an old setting. I don't mind it, but I can see how someone might. Afraid it's just another of the "that's how it works now" items with OneUI on Pie.

Hi @Dave-in-Decatur. :)

Thank you for posting.

It's a useful feature to have but hopefully someone knows how to turn it off.

I like to reduce battery consumption where possible.

Unless you dismiss the reminder the screen pulses indefinitely and obviously therefore uses power, maybe not much but it all adds up.

I am going to disable all reminder notifications and enable them again one by one. God knows how many things I'll forget and how much trouble I'm going to get myself in! HaHa. :D

Hey guys wonder if it has to do with the edge screen lighting? In the edge lighting prefs, think i remember seeing a switch for reminders. just adding a possible solution. good luck

Hi @Hghlndr :)

Thanks for your suggestion.

I actually have all of the edge features turned off but I enabled them temporarily so I could check all the options there just in case there was anything hiding away, but no, nothing.

Ok. After much time spent enabling, disabling and re-enabling every single reminder app notification setting in many different combinations. I learnt that the 'Notification Syle' for the category 'Notification sound reminders' needs to be set to 'Sound'. If you set it to 'Sound and pop up' that is what causes your sleeping screen to partially wake up and start pulsing blue when a reminder goes off.

Unfortunately this quite obviously disables the reminders on screen pop up notification too, but I'm not too bothered about that for now. Ideally I'd like reminders to pop up on my screen whilst I'm using my phone, but until someone posts a way we can disable the screen off/pulsing screen without disabling screen on/on screen pop up... I'm happy just to hear a sound and have an icon show in the status bar when I get a reminder.

Hopefully this partial solution (happy medium) will satisfy others in the same boat for the time being.
