Screen burn on Android devices

I think that if you're using an actual screen saver feature, the risk of burn-in is low. But other apps may not be optimized to protect the screen, since the user is probably not expected to spend long periods of time with a significant part of the UI appearing static on the screen (

Correct. Youtube was not being played at full screen. And yes, screen burn is still very much an issue. My S21 Ultra that I purchased in late 2022 I found out recently had tons of screen burn.

Why not just use always on display for a clock? Change the brightness settings. I'm fairly certain AOD is less likely to cause screen burn.

Between me and my wife, we have four devices. So... no.. Not really. Lol.
I used to have an S21 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra and S10e. My wife has an S22 Ultra. We also have an iPad which he uses for school, and he had some random Amazon junk kids tablet. Lol.

So... Yeah. We have a lot of devices. I had three mostly because I'm crazy. My son is special needs and unfortunately, using devices a lot of the portion of the time helps him with anxiety and is really stimulating for him.

That said, I have learned to be sneaky and turn on certain settings when he is using the device. The "extra dim" feature in particular is handy. Both me and my son use our devices at full brightness, which definitely contributes to screen burn.

What about another inexpensive tablet or budget phone for your son? I just thought that if he has his own device then you don't have to worry about screen burn. If you get a doctor's note you may be able to get a tax deduction for a device for your son.

Besides burning through tablets, your retinas can't be doing too well.

Im commentont solely to bump this because if there are two groups I still care about in this world are those with special needs and animals.

I'd 2hat Laura suggested. Or instead of a budget tablet if you want a little more oomph, a Galaxy Tab e/FE series. They have LCDs and get plenty bright.

This has to be said and I don't want to derail the thread so I'll say it and be done. This is why monitors or worse laptops with OLED's will be a wakeup call for many in 1-2 years where static elements are even worse than mobile.

Anyway, OP, let us know what you do.
