How to edit NV items ??

Umm, shouldn't you be using a PRL from your cellphone provider? That PRL is for America. You need to find Iusacell's PRL. If any of your friends have a Iusacell phone, you can take the PRL from their phone.

Ofcourse i?m using PRL for Iusacell when i have the Iusacell (mexico phone number)... the one 01120 i put was only to see how the phone behaves with the Virgin values (my USA phone number) in Mexico. and to my luck or bad luck it gets the Iusacell towers to make roaming...

Also I can dial the iusacell *228 and get updated the PRL (OTA) but that doesnt do anything to the data...

I know there is something that can be done... see here CDMA Gurus

I have sent an email to that guy for his solution but no answer....

Oh ok, my bad.

That thread sounds interesting. I just hope it's not a scam. Info like this should be freely available. Make sure to keep us updated if you figure this out.

I think I know how that guy does the conversion from Sprint to Cricket mobile. There is already an Optimus C phone for cricket mobile. I bet he downloads the official firmware (LW690ZV6_02.S6_02.P29102) and flashes it on the Optimus S. I know that people that flashed the S firmware on the V had the problem where their PPP settings were stuck with "sprint.com" (or whatever sprint's mobile address is). The problem is that there is no way to modify the firmware before you flash it.

That make sense... do you have a link for the sprint version ?? I guess if there are moded firmwares for other phones, this can be done as well.

Moderators, this is not discussing MEID or ESN and therefore not breaking any rules. Thanks.

My advice,
Sell the OV for $50 and buy a Cricket Phone.

VM phones are locked down much more than normal Android phones in order to discourage outside phones on their network and their phones on other networks.

DFS tools will let you edit the NV information in plain english, however...
It will be a one way street, the phone will never come back to VM as you will more than likely not be able to get the 3G password with DFS alone. The only way to get that is using a special LG program called LGNPST Lab (it must be the lab version) and the required DLL file from the Optimus S. Then you will be able to see it in DFS and save it for later use.

Honestly, what you are trying to do is a pain in the neck. In the time it will take you to accomplish this, you could earn enough by flipping burgers to just buy another phone, especially if you sell the OV first.

I've been running into a similar problem here.

I need to change some NV items, I have the SPC and it accepts it when I send that code.
However, I can't change some NV items, it comes back as "read only" or "error received from phone".
I get this error when I try to write NV item ranges with tools like cdma workshop.
I get the same error when I try to write using RequestNVItemsWrite as well.

How do I remove the write protection?
If it matters, the phone is running harmonia2 with clockworkmod recovery.
Interestingly, I can only get the phone detected as a modem by windows when in recovery, it doesn't show up otherwise.

Any thoughts?

The only way to remove that protection is LGNPST Lab (and the Optimus S dll file).

The reason it won't detect as a Optimus is because of CM, be glad it connects as well as it did. Some of us have to use Harmonia 1 to see it at all.

As I said before, by the time you hunt this stuff down and accomplish it, you could earn enough money at McDonalds to buy a different phone.

I agree with Leslie, I tried to do it with an HTC touch pro, I just didn't end up doing it. Just get one paycheck from McDonalds and you can get a new phone

Here is the thing...
You already spent how many hours on this? How many more are you going to spend?
How much is your time worth?

I like the OV, it's a great little phone and the best thing VM has, but you changed carriers, you have A LOT more options. Sell the OV, mow a lawn or two and buy a new/better phone.

Thanks for the tips, I'll start googling around now that i know where to start poking.

It's not the cost I'm worried about, I just want to learn how it all works.
Years ago, nv bit flipping was a lot easier and we had easy access to the internals. I must have been spoiled back then.
But that's ok, I'm willing to put in some time to figure things out.

It's still easy, the problem is that VM really locks down their phones. More than pretty much every other carrier.

I have a question that I cannot google search for the life of me and was wondering if sum1 could shed some light on the subject for me. When using nv readers (cdma ws) i come across devices that when pulling certain NVitems read as "access denied" . How are theses protected and is there a way to access this information?
