Android Central Question

i was at the mall earlier and then my device just hang and the buttons wont work and then something pop up saying "device maintenance has stopped" it appears rarely but when it appear my phone will just hang and then turn off automatically. how do i fix this? i'm running on android nougat btw

Welcome to Android Central! Go to the App Manager, tap Menu>Show System, and look for Device Maintenance. Select it, then Storage, then Clear Cache/Clear Data.

That would be great if it wasn't crashing when I select storage. Device Maintenance opens and will run fin until I select the storage option. This brings me to the 2nd part of my problem. How can I safely take the SD card out of my phone. I have pulled it out before without using the "unmount" feature and it ruined the SD card and I lost a 128gb sd card and all of the data on the card. I cannot risk that again.

Sorry, can you clarify -- are you going to the system settings, then tapping Apps (or Application Manager)? Or are you opening the Device Maintenance app itself? Or is it the same thing on your phone?
