How to get a continuous sound for VM notification

I have two problems with my EVO 4g. Both relating to notifications. My phone is rooted but have not upgraded yet.

1. Even though I have set it for No notification for incoming email on all of my accounts it still notifies me with a sound.

2. And the most important. It seems that sprint is sending my calls directly to VM more often lately and it costs me money when I don't return a call promptly. Sometimes I miss the single notification sound because of the noisy environment I work in and I need a continuous notification. But I don't see an option for this. I've tried an app called VM notifier but it didn't work so I'm looking for another option. Is there any app I can buy or any setting that I'm missing to accomplish this?

open voicemail, hit menu/settings/notifications and if you're using handcent or go sms choose it from the menu and use an MP3. It won't be constant, but if you don't hear the notification in 3-4 minutes, you're not going to hear it anyhow.
