How to get Chrome tabs to play nice with Haswell Macbook Air (2013)

Re: Do Chrome tabs look good for anyone on a Macbook Air?

it seems you need a pretty fast network for it to work properly

It doesn't help that it doesn't have 5 ghz which any streaming device should have. AC would be even better.

Without using Google, tell us the advantages of using 5GHz Wifi inside your home.

GO!

Um... less interference due to a smaller number of people using it... there's a distance difference.... I'm out.

if you have 192 or more people or devices in your house, that could be a factor.
And yes, distance matters -- 5GHz wifi has about half the effective range of 2.4Ghz.

I actually meant interference from other APs being on the same channel, not from client devices. And yeah, 5ghz is less range and penetrating power (IIRC). But you asked what we knew without Googling. ;)

(It not being my day job has led to me not keeping track of that level of detail. Thus, Google.)

heh. Was mostly asking our resident iOS defender to see if he had a valid issue, or was just parroting what he read on Twitter :P

OK for you guys that say you got it working fine on your Windows 7 "PC"s, are they plugged directly into your wireless router? My computer is plugged directly into my wireless router and I can not get it to see my Chromecast.. My Macbook Pro, iPad, iPhones, etc all work great, but I want to stream from my Windows 7 PC to it.. I have the extension installed

My wife's PC [win 7 ] is cat 5 to the router, and I've been able to share the tab. That is all I've managed to test so far.

Re: Do Chrome tabs look good for anyone on a Macbook Air?

so I wonder if something is not set up on my router right then?

Disable igmp in your router settings. Fixed it for me
