I purchased at a govt. auction a used Samsung Note 3. It is a Verizon model n-900v. It is locked by a PIN password. Legally, it is mine. I have no desire for any data or information on the phone and actually don't even want it for use as a phone, but only for connecting to wifi and running a single app. I am pretty sure I can't get around the password with the hardware as it exists, but wonder if I could buy a broken phone and either take, say the broken phone's motherboard or ???(other part) and replace the same part in my phone, or if the broken phone has, say, a broken screen, then use the screen on my phone. Can anyone tell me where the password exists (i.e. what part would I need to replace)? Also, how hard would it be to replace that part, or to move the screen from my phone to the broken phone. So, what is the critical part I need to be sure is intact on the replacement phone...and how hard is it to swap parts? I am not completely sure my phone is completely functioning, but it boots up and will get to the screen where you enter a PIN...and I can get to the camera and it takes pics and video, so it is worth trying to get it either functioning, or use its parts to restore a different broken Note 3.
