On my Samsung Galaxy tablet (Tab S), I have begun getting annoying things from Peel Remote. I believe that this app is installed as standard.
(1) Is there any reason why I should not get rid of it? I don't need it as a TV remote device and it just seems to be using resources.
(2) When I go to Applications Manager and click on Disable, it asks whether I want to replace it with the Factory Version. Do I? I have no idea what that means.
(3) Clicking on Disable has no effect. How about if I choose Stop instead?

Well, in the absence of any replies I took a chance and opted to replace Peel Remote with the factory version. I have no idea what it means but suffice to say Peel no longer pops up to annoy me!

I'm not sure why this didn't pop up before. You did the right thing.
For reference, over time the "factory built in apps" can get updated. But the "base installed version" cannot be removed, so essentially you have the "origional" and the "updated" app both installed. When you disable a factory app that's been updated, it warns you that the "factory" version will remain, but will uninstall any updates that had occurred over time. However with it disabled, it's as good as uninstalled, except that it's still taking up space.
