How to get screen to dim while on call?

While on a phone call my Note 2 would dim when on a call and when I brought the phone to my head. The N4 is not doing that as I would expect it to. Is there a setting that I'm missing somewhere for this?

It should do it automatically, but if not, you can use the power button to do that, as long as you haven't assigned the power button to end or answer calls...IIRC

I don't see a setting like there was in earlier versions of Kit Kat...so I assume it's no longer optional; it just does it.
