i'm getting better at some of the hands-free stuff. i've got the quick glance down pretty good, but if i do the quick glance and notice i have a text...is there a way i can read the text just by gestures? the commercial (you know, the one where they're at the grad party by the pool and the girl is doing her nails and reads a text asking if they'll stay longer...) makes it seem like i can do something like that but i haven't come across how to do it yet. i'd appreciate it if you can give me some tips or point me in the direction of a youtube video explaining how.

Maybe it's apart of Information preview under air view? The description there mentions "extended text" and you can read messages by hovering over it. The thing about commercials is that you don't know the status of the device like if it's already unlocked. So if the device is already unlocked and she just gets a message she can easily hover over it to see what it says. But if it's locked, which is more likely to be our device status, then that's different because I don't think we can unlock with a gesture. Advertising and Marketing at it's best..... show you something really cool but not give you the full scenario to see how useful it really is LOL. That's how they get us.

Scorpio is correct. The phone has to be unlocked prior to using this. (And notice that the girl in the commercial allready has the messenging app open.) Just set it up in Settings, My Device, Air View (make sure this is on) and then, Information Preview. However, you'll only be able to use this function if the lines of text are extended so when you hover, it will expand the rest.
I actually find this incredibly useful, (e-mail also) but again, you have to be within the application first.
good luck.
